    Tarantula Trifecta

I was out hiking yesterday (I'm in southern New Mexico now) in an old dry creek bed, and I came across 3 Tarantulas. The first one looked like it was dead, and the 3rd one was full of energy, I could barely keep up with her. Patrick, can you ID them...

    Chiltepen: Mother of all Peppers?

Welcome to THP!!! Pequins(the domesticated form of Tepins) are also one of my favorites as well. Many grocery stores sell them dried in little bags...usually see them 0.25-0.5 oz for a couple of bucks. I've tried buying larger quantities, but they get expensive. I've never seen them for sale in...

    Sweet Piquin

The black piquins were like other piquins, with an explosive, short lived heat. The sun made the pods and leaves a black color, but they turned red when ripe.

    Sweet Piquin

I believe so. They were green for a very long time, and slowly turned a deep red. I left it on the plant for a week before biting into it.

    Sweet Piquin

Last summer, I bought a couple of small piquin plants from a an old Mexican gentleman at a flea market in Lubbock, Texas. His English was as lousy as my Spanish, but I got the impression that he picked wild piquins and saved the seeds to grow the plants that he was selling. One of the plants I...

    Chiapas turned red and sampled

OK, I need to add something here, and correct my earlier post. I take back my statement about this pepper possibly being the Seranno Balin. I'm driving from Central, California to south central New Mexico, and yesterday afternoon I was feeling sleepy behing the wheel...not a good thing...
