water What is your water preference?

You are right about that. If I mix up to about 600tds or so in tap water, it goes from right around 7 down to about 4.7 - 5.0 One reason I prefer the GH Floranova series. Not near as big of a Ph swing and the plants do love it. jacob

water What is your water preference?

Distilled is a bit overboard for plants if you ask me, maybe for seedlings though. The Baby water we used to make the formula with is purified with flouride added. Not sure if that is helpful for plants, but I doubt it will hurt. I don't have a RO system, and too expensive to buy distilled or...

video BeagleStorm vs. The Naga Morich Chile - A Video Review

The naga is definately one of my favorite plants. Compact, VERY prolific, like about 200 pods off it 2 years in a row. Makes a great tasting sauce as well. Glad you enjoyed it. jacob

Any opinions on MG 15-30-15 ?

Plants look good Sean. But that rocoto plant looks like it is being ravaged by hornworms to me. The black pellets look like thier droppings. I haven't used the miracle grow 15-30-15, but have used the tomato formulation with good results. It is 18-18-21 and I use it at half strength once a...

video BeagleStorm vs. The Chocolate 7 Pot Chile - A Video Review

Actually, it isn't the same as the peppers listed in that thread, but a different one altogether. It is smaller than the 7pod brown with a similar coloring and not as pimply as the douglah. Haven't tried the 7pod brown yet, but it is not as hot as the douglah. There are a ton of different...

video BeagleStorm vs. The Chocolate 7 Pot Chile - A Video Review

Glad you liked it. It is a great chile, but the mildest of the 7's I have tried so far(but not mild by any means). I don't have the best tastebuds, but I didn't pick up on the banana flavor. Maybe that is some of the green chile coming through. It was about 80-85% ripe when I picked it to...

    College Football Thread

GO BLUE BABY!!!!!! Michigan all the way. Hoping for a better year out of the best team in football history (in wins and winning percentage  ). I do respect UConn for what they have done in the few years since joining the big boys in 1A, and still like Penn State all but 1 Saturday a...

    breeding cross polination prevention

I have had terrible luck with the tulle to isolate seeds. I get nearly 100% flower drop with it. I have used it to cover entire plants as well as the individual buds. I have had the most success with just putting a drop of elmer's glue on the bud before it opens. Probably get at least 50% to...

pics Lemon Drop Pics and a review

Lemon drop is a baccatum and the others you list are annums. From the charts I have seen, baccatums "sporadically" cross with other species. It is possible to get something different in subsequent generations with no isolation, but still a good chance of getting what you want too. Save from...

video BeagleStorm vs. The 7 Pot SR Strain - A Video Review

Great review. You handled that like a pro. Not sure what is going on with the Marouga blends. The plants look healthy, no visible damage to the pods, but they are getting moldy real fast. That was only off the plant like 3 days. I sent you the last 2 that came off the plant. I have another...

Plants start looking bad near end of season

What size pots are you using? The plants I have in 3 gal pots are starting to look a little rough, but the ones in the 5 gals are still loading up with pods and look great. Also, what ferts are you using? If you use a lot of chemical ferts like miracle grow, your soil could be loading up with...

    CMPMAN1974's 2010 Growing Log

Beautiful pics as always Chris. That marouga blend is the hottest I have tried so far. I only ate a small peice and it lit me up for at least 20 minutes. :mouthonfire: Just love the look of the primo. Just looks mean as hell. jacob

Anyone use Al's (Tapla) Gritty Mix or 5:1:1 Bark based mix?

The problem with bark based mixes is if the pine bark fines are not well composted they will rob nitrogen from the soil. I am not using this mix, but a homemade mix with added bark. The plants looked pretty bad at first, until I started adding a lot of nitrogen to the soil. Now the plants are...
