indoor PVC indoor grow shelf with floro tubes

Thanks again for the info and advice guys. AJ, are your tubes T8 or T12? I'm browsing some fixtures online and everything I'm seeing on homedepot.ca for T8 fixtures calls for 32 watt tubes (likely their maximum).

indoor PVC indoor grow shelf with floro tubes

Good point about the build, AJ. I was planning on building the shelf last, to fit what lights I manage to scrounge up but didn't give much thought yet to the tray size. Do your seedlings crowd each other and get leggy being so close to each other or do they not have to stay under lights for...

indoor PVC indoor grow shelf with floro tubes

Hi everyone, I just ordered a crapload of seeds for 2010 and will be starting them indoors next month to get a huge headstart for 2010. I am going to build a grow shelf using PVC pipe (probably 1.5"), most likely 3 shelves, 4' wide, 2' deep, and 6' or 7' high. I will most likely hang some...

    INDIAN PICKLES

I absolutely LOVE Indian pickles. I usually describe it to people as a TASTE EXPLOSION! Seriously... intense, and I love them, actually I had some as part of my supper with leftover Thai red curry I cooked up the other night. These pickles are wicked with curry and rice. They come in many...

    fermenting fermenting tabasco

That looks like my cayenne mash. The problem was not enough brine to cover the peppers. Habs are pretty thin walled so I don't imagine a lot of moisture locked up there. I'm throwing mine out, lesson learned. Next time I'll add more salt water solution.

    fermenting fermenting tabasco

I've used kefir as a starter on two batches (jalapeno and cayenne) and they both started up really nice. I think tabascos are nice and juicy so you may be ok with just tabascos and salt. If that doesn't create enough brine to cover the peppers well you may need to add some - do a web search to...

    franks red hot....

Red Hot uses "aged" cayenne peppers so be prepared to ferment a pepper mash. I have been experimenting with this myself. On July 1 I put up two mason jars of mash to ferment, one jalapeno and one cayenne. The mash should age / ferment at least a month at room temperature. After that the...

    Worm Farm to get casting

I have a vermiculture / worm compost bin on the go myself. I'm using red wigglers obtained from the Worm Firm in Nova Scotia. I started with about 1/2 lb of worms and I'm into my second week with them. Hopefully I can feed them well enough (family of 6 here) to multiply greatly and give me...

    Passow's Green Sauce FROM HELL!!!!!!!

Is that something you usually do? I usually can't wait, or don't make much and eat it too fast. I have some bottles from a batch I made over a month ago I should revisit to see if I notice a difference.

Yellow hab sauce turned out great

I'm not sure about the yelow hab thing and was tempted to ask about that. They were labeled as habaneros and were in a pile of yellow, orange, and red, with varying shapes but with a similar look.

Yellow hab sauce turned out great

Hey all, I made a yellow habanero sauce tonight and I must say it turned out great. I made a sauce similar to this over the summer with red habs and sweet red pepper and that went really well so I continued the trend. I used a shepherd pepper in this one. All of these peppers came from the...

shopping When is an OK time to buy seeds for next year?

Yes, seed swapping is a great idea. I only have a small number of plants and I've done nothing to isolate them so got knows what would come from the seeds. They are all capsicum annuum varieties so they'de likely grow into something. Planning bigger and better things for 2010 season. :)
