    Moruga Scorpions... don't hurt me

In the second picture there , it looks like the baae of thw seedling is withering. That could be caused by a fungi called rhizoctonia, aka "damping off". The first one I can't tell what is going on. Whatever you use to start the seed in needs to be kept moist but not wet, if you have the...

pests What's this bug and do I want it on my plants?

Joe, A Chinch bug is a turf pest. I doubt it'd be on this plant. It is in the Hermiptera order though.

    pests WHAT BUG IS THIS?

Compare to a Mealybug and see if that's it. I retract my previous post. Try Glyptoscelis squamulata or Grape Bud Beetle.

health what's wrong with my Bhuts?

It's an Iron deficiency. Check the pH of your soil to make sure it is in the correct range and also give it some chelated iron.

MikeinSC's 2012 Digital Diary of Delaying Impending Doom

It has been quite some time since I've posted. It has not been a swell year in the garden for me. I have a handful of Bhut Jolokia and Paper lantern hab plants in the ground and doing well without my attention. The nights are getting cool earlier than usual this year. Tonight and last night are...

    My Dougies are red

GA, There are two strains, or phenotype may be better, of Douglahs. The Douglah is a short, squat or round pod. The Douglah SR is an elongated pod. What you may have there is a Douglah SR strain. However, without knowing the exact lineage or source of the seed, it's difficult to say for sure...

Garden Preparation - A How To

Thank you Spicy Echo. A 364cu.in. small block powered tiller is the way to go and is therapeutic too. Balac, That is a good problem to have compared to sheer weeds. I will be bringing in lots of mulch this fall to get rid of the weeds problem.

Garden Preparation - A How To

It's been quite some time that I've been able to work in the garden. In fact, it has been so long that everything has grown over again. Last week I cut the well fertilized grass and weeds back to reveal a row of okra still growing. I headed straight home after work so I could work in the...

MikeinSC's 2012 Digital Diary of Delaying Impending Doom

It has been close to 2 weeks since we made the deal to buy the greenhouse but it hasn't happened yet. My attempts to meet with them have been returned with either unavailability or no response at all. This Monday I decided to build one new myself. The biggest hurdle was being able make the...

MikeinSC's 2012 Digital Diary of Delaying Impending Doom

This will soon be mine. It measures 20'x40' which should give me plenty of room to get things moving along in the right direction and on a bit more stress free road. My part time work has picked up recently and the big garden has suffered for it. What was once planted has become more space...

in-ground question on in ground garden area

At 6 inches, you should have plenty of topsoil to work with. I personally wouldnt be bothered by it. If it isnt too large of an area, which may make this cost prohibitive, i would look at adding well aged compost to the spot or other ammendments to build up the soil level.
