    Orange Saint Thomas Hots

If you want to see those St Thomas come to life, prepare a jerked rub with them and grill some chicken with indirect heat with the lid on for some smoke. That pepper has an amazing taste when Introduced with smoke. It does tend to mellow out heat wise during cooking however. My neighbor was from...

    3 Cotyledon leaves?

I've done dwc in the past, just not for vegetables :). First thing I got out of hydro was how expensive the nutes cost. Once I found blue planet, I realized how bad I was getting jabbed for the cost of nutes. Check them out and you will save big $$ with enormous crop gains. These peppers LOVE...

pests First aphids, now ants - what to do

I have more problems with squirrels than insects actually. I'm sowing peppermint and spearmint right now to transplant along the fence line. I've got some early and late bloom booster I'll try on these flowers when I plant them. I ordered some Lantana plugs instead of seeds and Marigolds :)

pests First aphids, now ants - what to do

Im limited on my growing space as well as having regular 100f days, so flower growing isn't viable for myself. Because of that, I forget that others aren't in my situation and probably would reap that reward growing flowers to sustain them. Thanks for reminding me :)

pests Bugs! Little white ones on my Butch-T Scorpion

Funny, I bought a bottle of the safer soap and it didn't work for me when I used it. I was pretty pissed off for blowing $17 on that crap. Stick with the Bonners and neem. Otherwise, azamax when you want instant results.

    3 Cotyledon leaves?

Nice, so which nutes do you use with dwc? Have you tried the blue planet nutrients high yield system yet?

pests First aphids, now ants - what to do

ladybugs are a great investment if you can keep them fed. Otherwise, they will just leave or die when there isn't enough bugs for them to eat. I found just spraying organic insecticide was a cheaper and more effective solution since my infestations have been rather small.

pests First aphids, now ants - what to do

If you see ants, you have an aphid problem. They love to herd them... Move them around and protect them... You have several choices to deal with them. First off,I mix doctor Bonners peppermint soap along with neem oil. If you have a light infestation, this works really well to combat the issue...

    I feel like crying!

I'd start with 3 days of spraying Spinosad. Wait a week and see if the damage continues. If so, 3 days spraying Bacillus thuringiensis will most likely stop the attack. I spray BT one a month to stop infestations.

pests Bugs! Little white ones on my Butch-T Scorpion

Dr Bonners Peppermint Soap and Neem Oil will take care of them. Spray every day for 4 days or until you see them turn black. Once you get aphids, I suggest a weekly spray to keep them under control. Also, look for ants as a telltale sign of them being on your plants. Ants love to protect and...

New to growing peppers - got some problems

Wow, ok a few questions first. What's the PH of your water? Are you using any RODI (reverse osmosis deionized) water? I prefer rockwool cubes in an Ebb & Flow system. I would also consider a different nute program, but let's get some of questions answered. Curling can be under or over watering...

    fermenting Second Ferment

I did a 90 day and it was a tough wait. I second that bowl recommendation. I usually leave 1.5" head gap to keep it from spilling over. I've also moved to 5L jars for fermenting since my harvests are so large, which gives me ample room for rough chopped by knife, fine chop via machine and rough...

    dry vs fresh

Fresh peppers really shine with their oil front and center. Powder has its place, but you can't beat a fresh pepper sweating its oil in your pan.

    Cheating on next years grow

If you really want to supercharge your rooting once you transplant, dip the roots in some mycorrhizae powder just as you plop them in the hole. This increases the surface area of the roots 1000times so their nute/water uptake increases.
