    paper cups?

Do paper cups hold up to starting seedlings or do they get soggy and fall apart? Or, should I just spend the money on solo cups and be done with it. I'd use Styrofoam cups but they'd be too much insulation to get the soil temps up. What are your experiences?

    Time to start over

Built a seedling cabinet today, to keep them safe from the cats. Built mostly from recycled lumber, so its not pretty, but its functional.

Some kind of wild growing in Hawaii

Most nightshade berries are actually safe to eat once ripe, really sweet and delicious, its in the unripe state that they can be toxic, even green tomatoes of some varieties can cause some gastric distress. For some reason the hot peppers rarely cause issues when harvested early, some seem to...

Some kind of wild growing in Hawaii

The shape and color of the fruit, growing in clusters, and the blunted points on the flowers. Plus I let a plant grow out last summer only to realize it was hairy nightshade after the fruit stayed pea sized.

Some kind of wild growing in Hawaii

The flowers look like an anuum, but the fruit look like nightshade, quite similar to hairy nightshade. If the fruit doesn't get much bigger, I'd tear the plants out, nightshade can be quite poisonous until ripe, and some varieties stay poisonous.

indoor hand watering indoor grow tent?

I only have 4 plants in a 3 x 3, so I went with drip rings and gravity feed them from a 5 gallon bucket. Each drip ring has its own shutoff valve so I can shut them down as stood as there's runoff and not flood the tent. Drip stakes would probably be simpler if you have a lot of smaller pots...

    Orange Habanero?

I did have one turn orange so I picked it to try it out. Not much hotter than my Thai peppers, but has a nice flavor not too sweet and not too floral, just nicely balanced. The biggest one on the plants so far isn't much bigger than a quarter.

    Time to start over

4 month pictures. Hab's are still growing in height, especially after being fed with cns17 bloom. Still just the four pods on the hab's but lots of Thai's are starting to ripen.

indoor Any Way To Keep Indoor Plant Smaller

Using a grow tent or cabinet will keep them from spreading too wide and keeping the lights close to the tops of the plants will slow the height growth a bit. I'm growing in 3 gallon grow bags and my Thai's are still 3 feet tall but no longer stretching upwards since I quit raising the lights...

    lighting 24 Hour Lighting?

I start my seedlings under 24 hour light til they're all sprouted and a couple inches tall to keep them from getting leggy, then switch to 18/6

health Lower leaves are falling. Is something wrong?

When growing indoors under lights, its normal for the bigger older leaves to drop off after the canopy of small younger leaves develop. Otherwise the two links have some good advice. Other than that, dig a finger in the dirt about an inch, if its dry its probably time to water, with plastic...

Best heating methods for closet growing?

I tried a ceramic heat emitter in my grow tent, didn't quite cut it as its radiant infrared heat. The 250 watt Honeywell heat bud's. Work my h better, I'm running 2 of them since ambient temps often drop below 60f. If you go with the mini ceramic heaters you'll need a he a controller like the...

    Newbie w/ several questions

Forgot to mention humidity. 50-60%, much higher than that and you invite unwanted fungi and other pests. There's research that says the optimal temperature for photosynthesis is 77f, so that's been my target temp lately, but you don't get any added benefits by going higher. Your better of...

    Newbie w/ several questions

If your watering daily, your most likely over watering, I water my indoor plants in smart pots every 7 to 10 days. For temps you want around 70-75f and a small fan circulating air, enough to make the plants wiggle, this helps strengthen the stamps and prevents mildew on the leaves. I wouldn't...

    Fabric Pots

If your looking for plant saucers, check amazon. I got the clear plastic ones pretty cheap, and they're more durable than I expected. I've even stepped on the edges of them without any breakage. You want to go at least two inches bigger than the diameter of the pot.

    Time to start over

I don't know how good they'd taste, but one of our cats liked them, that's the reason I had to start over. Lol. I guess having the UV/ir mixed with blue and wideband red LEDs can work really well for peppers. There is just a tiny bit of green spectrum to control growth signaling combined with...

How long does it take for these peppers to fully grow?

Well, my habs and Thais were planted the same time, and I've harvested a few thais weeks ago. All plants are about 3 1/2 months old and no ripe habs yet, but I do have some pods. The basic consensus is the hotter the pepper, the slower the whole process is.
