    Orange Habanero?

The odd thing is the seeds are from Ferry-Morse, which is a pretty big seed supplier. Of course the package does not specify isolated or open pollinated though.

    Time to start over

The plants seem to have responded quite well to a half dose feeding of cns17. The Thai's are fruiting out nicely, and 5 pods on the have now. Next feeding I might try a full dose.

    Orange Habanero?

Do orange hab's usually start out this pale? The reds I've grown in the garden before definitely started out a much darker green, but I've never grown the orange ones before.

    food All about that Butt

I cheat a bit, I use an electric smoker with a remote meat thermometer so I can watch the temp from in the house. I only have to go out and add wood chips occasionally. Cooking at 225 I've had some 6 pounders take 14 hours to reach an internal temp of 190, and had some 12 pounders finish in...

manipulating chili types for when they get hot. .

The Thai hybrids I'm growing indoors have an instant heat, and quite a bit of it, almost half the heat of a habanero.

    Pepper cheese?

Thanks for the link, I may have to order some. A friend of mine just found some chipolte cheddar at Walmart. I didn't even see it the last time I was there.

    Pepper cheese?

Any good online sources for other than average pepper jack cheese? I've had ghost pepper jack and it was all heat and no flavor, would like something with medium heat and a good flavor for sandwiches.

    Time to start over

A couple of ripe pods, picked one a little early, and about 28 more growing, but only 6 little bitty have so far.

    Time to start over

The potting mix ferts are only expected to last 3 months, and when I first started with it the run off ppm's where around 500, now they're down to 100. I'll probably start at half strength, and see how the plants respond. I ordered the cns17 bloom formula so it shouldn't over do the nitrogen...

    lighting New Lights

That 7:1 ratio sounds awe fully red for seedlings, should be more like 3:4 to make nice stalky thick stemmed seedlings. But, as long as they get enough light they'll grow just fine but might stretch a bit from too much red.

    Fabric pots vs. plastic

I've had good luck indoor growing with them, but I'm only 3 months in. Growing in 3 gallon grow bags and only water about every 7-10 days. Plant saucers or tubs are a good idea to catch run off when watering.

    Time to start over

Spotted the first habanero pod this morning. Its hard to tell if I'm getting much pollen out of the other flowers, but its probably really fine compared to what I get out of the Thai's. I harvest a couple not quite fully ripe Thai pods yesterday, and boy do they have a bite. I would say at...

    water Indoor auto watering system

It doesn't have to be much different then an outdoor drip irrigation system. You can get a kit for hanging plants and hook it to a reservoir with a small pump and turn it on and off with a programmable timer. The hard part is determing when and how long to water so you don't flood your grow...

    Time to start over

There are some pods on the Thai's but none on the habs yet. I think the ferts in the potting mix may be getting low, but I'll have some cns17 in about a week or so. Probably start at half strength since there's still some nutrients.

    Time to start over

Interesting. I measured leaf surface temps after the lighting addition. Temps are around 3 degrees higher than before with the same ambient temps. But still low enough to make happy plants. At 6 inches below the lights it's -4, at 31 inches below (habanero canopy) its -7.

    Time to start over

Installed 3 more unifun panels a couple days ago, I'm already seeing some new sprouts. The habs are taking over the lower regions of the tent The drip rings on their zip tie stands. Would you say that's good canopy penetration with the expanded light setup?

How Important Is A Fan For Growing Peppers?

If you don't want a noisy fan running at night, you can get a few 120mm computer fans and power them off a variable voltage power supply to adjust the fan speed and noise level. I picked up a four pack from amazon pretty cheap, might order another pack to get more air volume moving without them...

Any climate control/ventilation in the tent? And any change in the lighting?

    Time to start over

I did try qtip pollinating the habs a few weeks ago, but haven't tried since. I guess its time to try again. I have intentionally trimmed the Thais a couple times to keep them from shading the shorter plants, even had to trim back the habs a bit because they were tangled into the Thais making...
