June or July will be your best time and as woody3 says ;) get some lights before you start them.

My Jonahs from last year started light green, turned yellow, turned a peachy colour and then red. Leave them a while longer and they still may turn red.

I can sympathize with you JR, my season has been almost non existent too, I've had very few pods and am not expecting many more. The weather this last Summer was crazy (did we actually have one? My seeds came from THSC and I'd say around half of the many, many pods I got last year looked like those first pics but there was a lot of pod shape variation even on individual plants. So far this year I've had a grand total of 2 pods form on my 4 plants, but that's a whole other story :(...
