    Wine Yeast as a Starter?

I tried about 15 grains of yeast (the kind you make bread with) in a 1/2 quart of habanero/bhut mash last year and it worked great. Went nuts right away and settled down after a couple weeks. No bread flavor!

    misc Bhut Pollen Production

Hello everyone, I'm looking some insight on bhut jolokia pollen production. I am well aware that they do not produce much pollen and can be difficult to get to set fruit, especially in my situation growing indoor hydro. I am trying to pollinate by hand with a very fine brush and the last couple...

    Hydro nutrient help

I agree, hydroponics is great! I grew up on a small farm and we always had a great garden full of wonderful veggies and berries. 2 acres or so I guess. I've been living in the city now for quite a few years and hydro is a great way to get growing some stuff again. Looking forward to my fall "Hot...

Oh ya, garlic is good! Good for ya too! Hot sauce is much like fine wine, each occasion may require a different type. How could anyone survive on just one? Hhahahahhhahahaha

    Honey in hot sauce

Has anyone used honey in their sauce and found it to slowly lower the heat level? I've made a few honey garlic habanero sauces and after a month of so it's maybe only a quarter as hot as day one. Perhaps a pasteurized honey would not do this?

    tutorial Fermenting Peppers 101

Last fall I tried a few grains of brewers yeast as a starter in a pint of habanero/bhut jolokia blend mash. It sure took off quick and started bubbling right away. I also used the liquid from yogurt on another jar and after a few months I taste tested and they both seemed good. Anyone have any...

    Hello from Ontario

Hello from Calgary! I cloned my bhut jolokia plants last fall so I'd have bigger plants in the spring. They actually survived in my basement all winter under an RGB led lamp I made! Any how, it took up very little space and I am much further ahead this season. I have a 4x4 tent and full hydro...

    water Water chiller for reservoir?

I'm no expert either, i'm on my second year growing bhut jolokia in my garage. Too far north to grow them outside and actually get ripe peppers! Isn't it helpful to have beneficial bacteria and fungus in your system? The chlorine would kill all this stuff of would it not? Advanced Nutrients...

    water Water chiller for reservoir?

I bought one last year after realizing that my nutrient was going to go way beyond recommended temp. Yes they are expensive but I'd agree they are worth every penny. Mine is a smaller unit, payed $375 but it will keep 20 gal cooled to 66F even if it's 90F in the room. Constant steady temp is...
