    Leaf Curl U

I think we're all good, people! CalMag+ and Epsom seems to have resolved the problem. The new growth is now darker green and crinkly but not curling. Thanks all!

    Leaf Curl U

pH good, soil is absorbant. I added Mg and they're looking better. That's curious that your plant had a Ca problem. Usually that involves leaves curling to one side and knotting up on themselves.  Weird.

    seeds Seedlings are all dying?

Plants look dried out and your lamp is probably too close. I keep my HPS about 1.5' to 2' above the top of the plants. Too close and you'll just cook the poor buggers. They'll live if you keep them bottom watered really well. You might also consider planting them in something more like soil and...

    Leaf Curl U

I foliar fed with MgSO4 at 1tbsp/gal two days ago. Even sprayed with water a day later to let them absorb the leftover crystals. Guess it didn't work!   Ninja edit: And AFAIK, plants have a tough time absorbing a lot of volume through leaves. Yeah, it's faster but it's a little less efficient in...

    Leaf Curl U

Growing in a dorm closet, I'll aim the fan at the wall. Thanks.   And I'm using 1:1:1 potting soil:sphagnum peat:perlite with FoxFarms liquid ferts and CalMag+ for ferts. I agree, it sounds a little early for deficiency but the soil pH is pretty good as far as I know. We'll see. I'm adding more...

    Leaf Curl U

Perhaps, I didn't think about Mg. Thanks. I gave them CalMag+ a week ago, hey're up for a full dose today so I suppose we'll see. Maybe I'll give them an extra mL/gal   Doubt it. It's a 400W HPS. Strong, but weaker than the sun. It's about 2' from the tops of the plants so heat isn't really an...

    Leaf Curl U

Hey all,   No idea why this is happening. It's most pronounced on my MoA bonnets since they're crinkly by nature.   I'm getting some pretty drastic leaf curl on most of my plants. My theory is that the fan on them is too strong and is evaporating water from the leaves really fast, causing them...

pests Anyone know what these bugs are?

Maybe run down to your local gardening store and pick up a bottle of Azamax or some such other pesticide. I've never used them but apparently they're USDA certified organic or some such other thing and the toxins become inert after a few hours in open air. If they are indeed kudzu bugs you're up...

Topping plants at a young age.

My story is anecdotal, so it's not good evidence, but every plant I've had I've topped save for my first. Every time I top below the third node, leaving two sets of true leaves. Every time the plant bounces back like mad. I think your plants were shocked and died from something else.

    Tricotism and Tricotism

I need to hire a bunch of cherubs to fly out of my door every time I open it to really get that heavenly vibe I'm going for.   That said, really hard to take a picture when everything is the same color orange.

pests Anyone know what these bugs are?

I can see it. The picture isn't too good since I can't zoom in but the bug is dark dark brown. Almost black. Doesn't look like any ladybug I've ever seen. Maybe scoop it up and release it outside. Killing seems a little harsh

    Tricotism and Tricotism

My Red Savina is a tricot! It's my first and I don't know how rare it is but I think it's awesome. Reminds me of a great song by Oscar Pettiford.   Enjoy your double dose of tricotism for the day, THP. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JoH48Yyuwy4

    Doomus's 2014 Closet-GLOG

BS7 and Red Savina sprouted, no word on Fatalii or Peter Pepper.   RS had three cots. It's a first for me, dunno how rare it is.

pests Anyone know what these bugs are?

The number of threads on this site that have new users saying "I'd post pictures but I can't" is irritating. Maybe we should sticky a thread somewhere teaching people how? I still have trouble posting pictures on this site and I've been here for quite a while.   If you get a pic posted, I'll do...

    Wetting Sphagnum

Good idea. I've never had a real reason to grow aloe until now.

soil Question about "soil" vs. "soil-less medium" and ph of water

I would imagine so. If not, then there is at least an abundance of buffer molecules in soil. The point is that in hydro, you have to control a ton of variables that are normally taken care of by the microbiome/slow release nutrients.

I don't think it'll make it, cone. Better mulch it and start over.

soil Question about "soil" vs. "soil-less medium" and ph of water

Ideally, the media surrounding the roots should be somewhere in the 5.5 to 6.5 range for peppers. A medium-low pH ensures that nutrients can stay available. If the pH goes too low or high, you can get nutrient lockout where the nutes are available, but can't be soaked up by the roots. For soil...

    Wetting Sphagnum

TWEEN? No thanks, brother. That said, I'd love to see your results if you get any.       Pressing, hand mixing, and spraying are usually what I do but it takes some effort. I usually brew up fertilizer mixes by the gallon and since the plants are only seedlings it lets me pre-soak new cups so...
