soil Soil vs DWC vs Aquaponics grow

I think youll see a bigger difference from the DWC after your plants get a little bigger and you can up the ratio with more nutes. Also, just a comment.. but using the Flora 1 part I'd think your missing out on one of the prime advantages to Hydro. That you can tailor the mix for the plants...

hydroponic hydroponic nutrient formulas / mixing

An old thread but great topic! Im using Jungle Juice 3 part with aeroponics and started with 32 ml / gal, then at 4 weeks I switched to Micro and bloom only at 64 ml / gal. Every 4 weeks I do add 8 ml / gal CalMag and I add 32ml / gal of Growth ( nitrogen). PH is 5.7 Almost all supers...

    Drought in CA

around here (So Cal) it's a fairly big deal right now. I've stopped watering my grass but once every week and a half or so.. just enough to keep it from completely dying and it is a nice shade of brown/yellow right now. As for my peppers, I really don't have issue as they are only watered about...

Bringing Peppers/Seeds back from a cruise

lol yeah I got this picture of some 7 pots stuffed down someone's pants...or in a body cavity... and them running through customs screaming lol Just remembering those times I went to the head 4 hours after prepping my peppers for the dehydrator and suddenly realizing I didn't wash my hands...

What kind of pepper would I like?

Some time, if you've never had one, you have to try a Fatalli. They are probably my favorite pepper of all. They arent as hot as the reapers but I thought I'd mention it. I'd also try a Yellow 7 pot.

What am I getting myself into????

LOL  -- this is so familiar. First year I started with 5 plants. Next year was 20 a few years later (only due to no more room) I'm at 75 or so plants in 60 or so varieties. If I had room I'd have well over 200 plants to get everything I want!

in-ground In the ground or in pots?

I've had both and for pots have tried fabric bags, 5 gallon buckets, etc... and while I have great success (usually) from both, my in ground consistently are much larger and produce much more pods. That's just my experience. For pots my best experience is with grow bag style pots- I use the Wal...

    Are these right?

No personal experience with Pepper Joe good or bad other than reading over the years but those pods all look ok except like said above the first pods could always be different look but usually in mine by about the fourth they are pretty uniform looking. Keep in mind that here, or any Internet...

Late season super hots...how to dry, can, mature?

There's a few alternatives to a dehydrator. If you have a typical older gas oven with a pilot light, just leave them in the turned off oven for a few days. It's warm and dry enough to do it.

tim's habanero sriracha style hot sauce

Sounds great! I might try this with some red bells and a few bhuts for the heat. Gotta go with what I have laying(growing) around lol.

Fatalli is my favorite tasting pepper. It's perfect for you if you want heat in between a Scorp and a Hab too!

Root pouches/Grow bags vs regular pots

I've never used official "grow bags" but have heard great things. I have however used plain old wally mart and target cloth bags and have had huge success. Edit- just noticed your in Europe. I'm referring to big cloth shopping bags about 20l or so size that the big chain stores here sell for...

    Will they ripen?

Yeah the heat and flavor can be dramatically different green to whatever color they want to be when ripe. I've had some green scorps that I accidentally knocked off that tasted like $&/@ with almost no heat at all but the ripe ones... Hoo boy.. Others like Serrano, Jals, etc... Have a green...
