    condiment Bhut/jalapeño salsa verde

First I have to say I can't take full credit for this recipe, I found it on instructables.com a while back and have used it every summer since. That being said I did adjust it slightly. Alright time for the good stuff. Ingredients: 8 good sized jalapeños As many bhuts as you like 12-13 medium...

soil White fungus like growth on soil

Awesome, thanks HawaiiAl, I'll definitely keep that in mind if things start going south again. Also thought I'd add this, my seedlings seemed to grow incredibly fast since the white disappeared. I'd say a good 20% or so increase in size of leaf surface area, height, and a new set of leaves on...

Well I haven't had a chance to pot up but I used tap water to water this morning and tonight when I got home from work, all the plants with the geowth were totally clean, all but one :)

soil White fungus like growth on soil

Gasificada, you say I can scrape it off "if it's bothering me". Is that to say that it's not harmful to the plant? I've got the soil drying out just a bit but still got a little way to go, not goin bone dry though. It seems not to be getting any better or worse at the moment.

soil White fungus like growth on soil

Oh ok awesome. Had me scared for a minute lol. It's my first year growing so I thought it was something that might ruin my plants. That makes sense though, I watered a bit more than usual yesterday because they seemed unusually dry. Thanks for the quick reply :)

soil White fungus like growth on soil

I'm still working of getting my seedlings potted up (Bhut jolokia and Trinidad scorpions). This morning I noticed a white fungus looking growth that looks similar to frost on the soil surface in the seed starter pellets. Is this something I need to fix or is beneficial fungus or what? Thanks...

    Tomatillo - another needed

Man I planted 40-50 purple tomatillo seeds and I had 100% germination (ot at least very close). I'm glad I found this thread I didn't know some were invasive. I think I'll plant in pots too. If all goes well I plan to make some salsa with purple tomatillos and bhuts ;)

    Pots or raised planting beds?

Gasificada that's pretty much exactly what I'm looking for :-) I found a few hydroponics shops in my area sk I'm gonna check that out tomorrow morning. Franzb69, in my opinion there ain't nothin' better than a good hands on DIY weekend project, and the labor is fun and well worth the pay off I...

    Pots or raised planting beds?

Alright my plants are still young and in jiffy pellets right now. They're growing quite spindly and I know it's from lack of useful light. What is a cheap option to provide a bit more light than a slightly lit window sill. There aren't any sunny windows in the house and I can't afford an...

    Pots or raised planting beds?

What you have told me so far is basically what I had planned I just didn't know specifics like what to feed with and when to feed. As for soil, to my knowledge, the place I go for my gardening supplies (I want to say it's Marshall grain company) mainly sells organic plants, ferts, and soils. The...

    Pots or raised planting beds?

Alrighty gasificada, sounds good :D I'm really excited to have some peppers in the next few months, if all goes well of course. Next weekend when I go get all my lumber and soil, I'll be picking up some dynamic-lifter or something similar and some worm poo :) Thanks for the help :)

Thanks for the warm welcome fellow pepper lovers lol. Been doing lots of reading and research. Also within the past 24 hours I've had the last 6 of my 12 bhuts germinate along with 4 of my 6 trinidad scorpions

    Pots or raised planting beds?

Awesome thanks for the info guys! I decided I'm going to do about half in pots and half in a raised bed. Partially for convenience and also because I don't have enough full-sun space in the back yard right now with our big tree blocking the sun from more than half of the yard. A bed big enough...

    Pots or raised planting beds?

I'm a first time grower this season here in the DFW area in Texas and I've got some bhuts, Trinidad scorpions, and sweet banana peppers, along with a few varieties of tomatoes and other vegetables. My question regarding the peppers is this, is it better to plant in pots or a raised planting bed...
