They are herbivores so technically you could eat the meat raw though I can't verify that. Their love of salt is what draws them to outhouses and I suspect the meat is salty like some fish. But being a rodent you'd want to check them for worms etc all the same things you'd check a deer for. 

Speaking of porcupines I've always wanted to taste one in the fall. Anything sooner and you risk the meat tasting like turpentine from the conifers. I hear the liver is quite a delicacy. Yeah, in addition to peppers I'm interested in game animals. Go figure.  

They were bad here about three years ago. They are much harder to trap than a typical gopher due to their size. You got lucky. On the plus side I think pocket gophers go in cycles so you just have to be patient.

It is too bad you can't use a firearm within city limits. I don't have to go partridge hunting, they come to me instead.         

  I don't know if I am the only one but does anyone else see the slick shine on insides of the scorpions and think "bacon grease"? I have to stop myself from doing something stupid like licking them. The more oily the pepper the more I am drawn to do that and have to stop myself. 

As a chip fiend I'll have to look for those.
