    vendor whitehotpeppers

I am jumping the gun for next season but placed an order for three varieties of peppers I wish to grow next season, as usual Justin sent them out quickly and included four freebies with my order!  Thanks Justin, much appreciated!        The three pictured on bottom are what I ordered, all I can...

    Why no aquaponics?

Its a neat little unit for sure, only thing I see that they could improve upon is how do you feed the fish?  I assume you have to lift up the top grow tray and I am just wandering how messy that is.    If it were about half that price I would buy it, still too much to draw any interest from me.

    Eating Superhots!

Pretty much the same for me, I used to eat Jalapeno's, Seerano's and Thai Chili's fresh.  Once those werent hot enough graduated to Orange Habs, then other different habs and then first superhot ever eaten was a Ghost Pepper.  The pain as expected was pretty intense for the first 10-15min but...

How many plants can you manage?

220 plants this year, planting in Spring was a lot of work but after the initial plant out its generally smooth sailing.  Maybe 30-60minutes a day on maintenance.   I find it relaxing taking care of the plants, and I get a real kick and overall excitment when they start to flower and set fruit. ...

ingredients strangest ingredient in your hot sauce?

I dont know if its strange but instead of salt I add fish sauce to my home made hot sauce.   It adds that savory element and of course fish sauce has salt in spades so two birds with one stone and such.

In the grpound or leave in pots ??

If you dont want to till you can think about this instead.....  I have very hard compacted clay soil in my area so I just use a Post Hole Digger and dig 10-12 inch wide hole by 18" deep, I fill the hole with good store bought soil and my pepper plant.  That way you keep the soil costs down and...

    flavor 7-Pot Jonah taste test

I add these to Salsa, I make hot sauce with them, and I especially love the Jonah in powder form to sprinkle on my food.  My neighbor who is of Vietnamese ancestry especially likes the Jonah crushed up and mixed with fish sauce to put on his food.    I'll take a Jonah over a Reaper any day of...

    flavor 7-Pot Jonah taste test

My favorite 7 Pot pepper, pods are really hot and the plants are big producers.  They have a strong chinense taste so they are a great sauce pepper, excited for this season growing 8 Jonah plants this year.

Looks like I got screwed over, what do you think?

Are these the first formed pods of the season?  If so wait for the 2nd round of peppers to see if they are closer to true pheno shape,.

    Nutrient Regime - Help Needed!

Oh yea, Osmocote Plus is great.  I just dont use because I find it very expensive and I have over 200 pepper plants.  at the end of fall 2016 I shopped around for clearance ferts and found EcoScraps Tomato Fert 4lb for $1 a bag and Espoma Tomato Tone for $3.50 a bag.  Needlesss to say I...

    Nutrient Regime - Help Needed!

Since you have a very short season I would suggest higher Nutrient sources, it seems you are a stickler for all Organic so perhaps you could add Blood Meal to your regime for growth stage somewhere between 5-10 Nitrogen.   Getting your plants to full height as quickly as possible should be a...

GMO and Modern Farming a good thing?

The GMO moniker of "Feeding the World" is laughable, as much food that is thrown away in the USA alone.... What I am saying is there is plenty of food, people starve because they dont have money to buy food not because there isnt enough produced.   There have been many studies and test fields...

    Supplements

Well its pretty simple really, after the plants reach full height and start flowering and setting fruit I do a Foliar spray with the bloom booster every 7-10 days.   Just buy yourself one of those One Gallon pump sprayers and follow your directions for your blooming agent and mix up a...

    Supplements

I pretty much grow Organic until my plants reach full maturity, once they are full size I keep feeding them organic fertilizer as a top dressing to soil but I also add a chemical Foliage spray of Bloom Booster only spraying the leaves of plant.   I get crazy production year after year.    ...

    Supplements

When I plant I put a 1/2 cup of Espoma Tomato Tone Organic fertilizer pellets in hole along with a 1/2 cup of a mixture of Garden Lime and Gypsum which is basically Calcium, Magnesium, and Sulfur.

    Mamma Mia Giallo/Kung Pao

The Momma Mia Gallo are really nice, I grew them two years ago and for some reason my plants grew 5 feet tall.   I got good production and the peppers are enormous so there is that.     As for the Kung Pao, I'll take those over Cayenne any day of the week.  I have always loved them!

I love Scotch Bonnet's sooo I had to try this one out!

I think its a pretty A-Typical Scotch Bonnet sauce from that region.  Personally I dont like any sauces that are ground smooth, I like a sauce that has chunks of peppers, I want to see the chunks and I dont mind the seeds.  I have a Caribbean Restaurant a mile from my house and the owner is from...

    Red Savina vs. Red Hab?

I have a friend that has a Garden Center / Nursery.  Whenever he doesnt know the exact type of pepper etc he will just give it a generic term or name on the tag to sell.  In the case of your Red Habanero it could be one of any number of varieties but since they arent likely 100% sure they can...

    Red Savina vs. Red Hab?

There are many red habanero varieties including a general Red Hab, Red Scotch Bonnet, Carribean Red, Antillais Red, etc. and the llist goes on.   To me most red habs taste similar but some have a milder flavor and heat compared to others that have blazing heat and very strong Habanero flavor.   ...
