    Hottoddy 2015 - 2016

I have two Maui Purples in front of my house. I picked the ripe ones today.     Ready for the dehydrator!

Micro Greens. Relatively low startup costs, sell for about $20-30/lb. Not new but I seems to be trending.

Red MOA Scotch Bonnets Community Grow

Yellow here too!    One plant hasn't shown it's color yet ... so, there's still a chance.

container Container Gardening On The Cheap: Homer Buckets Or Grocery Bags?

I agree with above - no need to put anything other than perlite to aerate.    As for grow bags, etc, they can work great - but dry out fast when it's hot. You may need to water 2X a frequently as pots/buckets on hot days (eg, every day vs. every other day). I would recommend trying some out, but...

Tasty Looker is Mystery to Me (Pics)

You guys are probably right. These pods are about 3 inches though. Jumbo Datils. They are tasty, and i can chomp them raw without much problem. I bet I got incorrect seed from Bakers.

Tasty Looker is Mystery to Me (Pics)

They do kinda. Could be. I have never grown Datils. The seed either came from me or Baker Heirloom. I grew a few Jimmy Nardellos - and had to reload once because of germination issues, so I tried a commercial seed I had lying around. Not sure which took, but one grew true and this was the...

Tasty Looker is Mystery to Me (Pics)

This one is out of left field for me, but perhaps one of you recognize it. It shares nothing in common with anything I am currently growing. It tastes a bit like a hot, juicy Lemon Aji but is about the size of a bhut. Most of the pods turn purple for quite some time (see right side), before...

    Hottoddy 2015 - 2016

I spaced out the plants since they no longer need to crowd under the sunshade. This will let them stretch out a bit more over the next few months, and better isolation for seed harvesting.     Part two on the patio block.     Some of the plants along the side of house (a good place for...

    grills Traeger Pellet Grill Chipotle

Yes, but not the entire process. I believe the Traeger's lowest temp is 180F. At that temp, you'll turn your jalapenos black in about 3-4 hours. You can get a cold smoke device (smoke daddy, AMAZN smok er) for lower temps and more smokiness. Otherwise, I would recommend smoking ripe red japs for...

    Getting Fit!

Awesome riding! I used to ride ~300 miles/week back in college (UC Santa Barbara) during the season. Road bikes started making my crotch area numb, so I stopped. I have heard the seats are better now.

chinense Store bought habanero vs. home grown habanero

I have seen more commercial habanero hybrids popping up. One is called Helios (see Johnny seed). Advertised as an "early" and higher yield harvest pod, I believe it's crossed with a jalapeño or similar. The pod is larger and less hot than a true hab. You may be seeing something similar in stores.

    The Addiction

When I was young, Tabasco appalled me. I couldn't believe my dad would put it on his eggs. In the summer of '77, I was abducted by aliens. In addition to the anal probe, they stuck something down my throat. Whatever they did, it desensitized both areas to capsaicin. Soon afterwards, I found...

    bonnies dragon cayenne

It's basically a Thai - Cayenne cross, so anything those work in would also work well for Dragon Cayenne. I mostly dry mine, and throw some fresh pods into dishes (Thai-style, stir fry, kung pao, etc.). As they are a smallish, thin skinned pod, I find they dry quite nice on the plant as well.

video Video: Pod test "Lucy" 7 Pot Jonah X Naga Viper

I agree that Lucy is one hot MoFo. One of the hottest out there. I'm growing F4 seeds from a reliable source. Mine don't look quite as bumpy/wrinkled as yours, but also not quite smooth as the picture in #5. Maybe that picture is a bit overexposed.

Did a Man vs. Food Challenge - Triple Hab Pizza

Anyone see this episode? I'm sure this is nothing to you fire guts out there. I'm definitely not much of a raw pod guy. The Triple Habanero Pizza is their hottest level. It was fun and not much trouble for me getting down. Very warm but not uncomfortable. The shear volume caused my stomach to...

    Hello from THE-HAB-HEAD

:welcome:  from Boise.   Last night I had the TRIPLE HABANERO PIZZA (as featured on Man vs. Food). It wasn't too bad going down, but a bit warm coming out this morning. My favorite habs are the Caribbean Red and Red Savina.

An odd request - wasabi rhizomes?

So easy to grow! Just build a waterfall with lazy river on your north facing property, get the perfect soil & PH, and keep the plants continually bathed in cool water (45-55F) for several years. ;) I'd love to if money were no object.
