    Straw as mulch

the problem with straw or hay is it's made from weeds that grow in pasture so it contains literally thousands of seeds (if not more) for the weeds you are trying to avoid. i just bite the bullet and buy some bags of mulch.

    Bitter melon!

this is what the ones that grow in my yard look like: http://www.evergreenseeds.com/bimehybado.html   i'm gonna try to grow some intentionally, in some good soil, and see what happens. i read that you don't want to eat them when they are ripe, or they can cause all kinds of gut problems. i also...

    bottling Bottling in Plastic...?

one thing for sure, you want BPA free plastic. i've stored hot sauce in a little "food safe" squirt bottle that i purchased in the camping section at walmart. it seems to be ok, but i really don't know for sure.

    sun Too much sun?

as long as they are well rooted and get enough water, you will have no problems. i have peppers that get full sun, literally, no shade, probably 10 hrs a day during the summer. they are just fine. they may wilt, but that's not gonna hurt em. just give them a drink and they'll pop right back up. ...
