    pics Harvest

Overnight wind knocked over my aji Amarillo, which caused a small amount of premature harvest. Luckily, the plant seems ok, with plenty of pods remaining. So, here is my largest harvest of the year. Starting with the Aji Amarillo in the lower left and working clockwise- Sedona Sun Orange...

    condiments Infused Hot Pepper Salt

I make a "nacho salt" from a combo of three pepper varieties. You can use whatever you have, but I look for characteristics of heat, sweet, moderate pungent in my three varieties. Right now (I was gonna fire up the dehydrator today) I'm using aji limo, Sedona sun, and Apache. Pretty simple...

CD, agree with you on the Spezzano Thai, it is one of my largest plants and definitely my most productive. Medium/large peppers everywhere, and they keep coming on. Looks like maybe a good one for the PNW.

The first couple, which I harvested like 3 days ago, were the initial babies, which I'll not base an opinion on.  A big one on the way soon.  We're cranking on blooms and peps now in the last couple of weeks.  Dry, wind, and uber low humidity now.  Seems to be loving it as long as I can keep the...

Not an expert, but I think it's a boy.

Went out to get my first round of harvest from my Serrano plant, and became a proud papa.  It's a boy!

media Best media for self watering buckets?

Oh, I meant to ask. What to do with the media at the end of the season? Dump (into the garden) or try to reuse for next year?

media Best media for self watering buckets?

S7, copy that. Disclaimer-my first year with the buckets. Succeeding, but still learning. I do bottom feed, but, occasionally and lightly. Fish hydrolysate primarily. I'll keep an eye out for nasties. A couple of things that would concern me about your method is the reduction of growing...

media Best media for self watering buckets?

Hey S7, I know that you are a data driven guy.  So, what is so bad about the sludge that you speak of?     I've got several in the 2x buckets with no problems.  Buckets were a plenty, so, no real waste of buckets for me. I have extra.    I did have one death (not attributed to the buckets) a few...

CD, I'll hijack your thread.   Mostly to give praise tho.     Here is my Arequipa Giant.  From the seeds you graciously provided.  Veg is good.  Starting to produce.  Harvested a few   - less than giants tho. More on the way.  Mucho tasty.  Not a lot of heat. Thank you for my foray into pubes. ...

Gotta say, S7, looks like FLA not WA. Not many anoles in WA. Wish we had some, instead of the reclusive skittish honery skinks. Great photos tho. Especially the freaky dotted spider.

    Pepper Guardian Pictures

I walked by my Aji Limo in one of my self-watering buckets this afternoon and spied a pepper guardian, and thought that it might be fun thread to start in the lounge.  People post pics like this all the time, and I often get a chuckle out of what shows up.   Guardians unite!   Upon closer...
