    Cacti Thread

Thanks! Up to about 70 cacti now, 65 individual species and a few duplicates. Running out of room/window space for them inside during the winter. In the summer they all go out on the deck. Likely going to buy or build a greenhouse for them and some other plants this spring though.

Quick update. It's been 17 days since seeds hit the dirt. Everything is going well so far. Just R.O. water and light so far. This weekend I separated all the doubles and gave the extras away. Going to start feeding them a diluted mixture of nutes with the next watering later this week. I also...

What brand/model of greenhouse is that and how do you like it? I've been looking for one for my cacti collection and some of my other plants but essentially, doesn't matter if it's $500 or $5000, they all have bad reviews online, so I haven't been able to decide.

seed-train The annual Mega Seed Train 2020/2021

Man, I've seen this thing year after year and never jumped onboard, maybe this fall will be the year. I have around 60 or so varieties so I should have something to offer. Hopefully I can catch it then.

seeds How early is too early to start seeds?

I know this thread is older, but just to add to this, my last frost is usually mid May and first frost Mid October, give or take a week or two. I normally start all my super hots/slow growers the first week of January, then the faster germinating/growing variaties late February to mid March...

Got the PH tester all calibrated today. My normal faucet water is around 7.82 which could/likely explains some the issues I've had in the past with plants having nutrient deficiencies since that PH range is too high for uptake of most nutrients. I do have a small 3 gallon under sink R.O...

On another note, decided to smoke a Pork Butt on the Weber Kettle today. Started the coals at 3am, it hit the grill at 4am and was done around 2pm, let it rest for about 2 hours, turned out great!

After years of guessing or using test strips, I finally got myself a nice digital tester! Just came in! Gotta follow the instructions to get it up and running but I'll let you guys know how I like it. Pretty sure it's gotta soak for 12-24 hours in the soaking solution before it can...

Thanks! We didn't get much snow in my area this year. We got a few storms of 2-4 inches and one decent one with 6-8 inches but that was about it. Up north of me like Marquette and Houghton still got a decent amount, Houghton averages 300+ inches per year though. The area I'm seems to be in a...

Hey Paul, was that you that had the 6-7 year old Yellow T-Scorp plant? If so, do you still have it?

Yeah I know, I know... Since most of my seeds are 3-4 years old I was nervous, but they were all dried properly and have been kept in individual ziploc bags for each variety, inside another ziploc bag for each year, and finally altogether in a larger ziploc in the fridge, so that...

Day 7 since dirt day. Curiosity got the best of me, had to start digging. Checked every pot and have life in I'd say 80% of them already, so it's looking promising! Close-up...

Thanks! Thank you! Just threw this together quick and it turned out pretty good. Previously I had a homemade PVC grow tent/box and would start around 400-500 seeds, give most away and keep the strongest plants for myself, I just don't have the time for that this year. If I run out of room...
