3 of the 4 rocoto seeds that I planted popped up quite quickly (and then were promptly eaten by my cat  :doh: ). I'm still waiting on #4 to germinate but have also had a number of seeds that I gave up on and planted a couple months ago suddenly decide to grow so I have faith in that lonely rocoto.

I have been battling aphids all winter as well (brought in unknowingly on 3 plants from outside). I have found the only effective method for me so far to keep numbers down (not eradicated) is to manually pull each and every one of those things off the leaves. I likely miss one here and there so...

This year I'm growing carbon, sicillian saucer, radiator charlie's mortgage lifters, amish salad, gardener's delight, and speckled roman.

Just keep trimming them back if you want to keep them indoors and don't want them to be huge.

That's quite the list for your first year growing from seed. Good luck with your grow! I have a slightly shorter version of the same shelf for growing indoors and it seems to work quite well!

I work in an ER and have to say that this would give me a good chuckle. I'm not too sure what we would even be able to do to ease the burn but I'm sure everyone would be giggling about his stupidity for a few days.

Nice list for this year! I use the same method for getting my seeds started.

I have a bunch of little ones under lights, a couple over winters in the house and quite a few more in paper towels right now. I have to start really early if I have a hope of anything ripening outdoors here.

I've heard you are supposed to introduce a cat by keeping it separate in a room for a day and they first get used to the scent and do a little dance under the gap under the door ...   That came from a crazy cat lady, lady at the rescue place ... so, YMMV ... That's how I've always introduced...
