    vendor Refining Fire Chiles

I just want those interested in getting seeds to know I just purchased some varieties from Mr. Duffy of Refining Fire Chiles. Not only did he get the seeds quickly, but they appear healthy, and he was kind enough to add a few more varieties to try. Not all vendors will do that. Ive...

    Borg 9

I call it luck and many lessons learned. From early in the year I learned to control feedings and watering. I went from too much of everything to moderations. Once I did that my plants started to go nuts. I watered them daily when in 90s to 100s. Now Im watering every couple days. I also...

I tried a sliver of one pepper and the heat level is insane. Great flavor. Planning to use them in dishes and hot sauces.

    Borg 9

I have been successful in my growing of a Borg 9 pepper plant. Although my patio does not allow more than 4-6 hours of light. Im planning to overwinter my hot pepper plants so they can explode next year. Here are some photos. I know a couple are sideways photos. I forgot to put my phone...

    Hot weather

In Reno, we typically see 30 degree swings, sometimes more. For us the issue is winds that become the issue associated with it.

Is my Carolina reaper plant dying?

So how is the plant now? Did you figure out a routine for feeding and sunlight? Sounds like the new container was wise. When transplanting, Ive found that the initial low level dry nutrient mix to a good mix of soil type is good enough for approx a month while the ola t gets through its shock...

Is my Carolina reaper plant dying?

People use it either way. I like to mix fish emulsion with kelp with water, then I put into soil. I do this once a month. For folder, I do epson once a month. To me, doing any more is like over applying and working for plants. They can get too much unless you minimize strength and plan...

Is my Carolina reaper plant dying?

For my own plants I have focused on a balance of npk at low levels until a foot, then I shifted to higher levels as plants accelerated. Once the pods start to show up all over the plant then I shift to bloom formula, minimizing n, with maintained pk. I also only use nute once, then water three...

Is my Carolina reaper plant dying?

If I may add detail to the photos you have sideways. It appears you are using a phone to take the pictures. Be sure you have your phone sideways with button on right. Then post. It will show photo of plant correctly. If I may suggest, hardening for a week is great, which helps. Once...

    Pic upside down?

I learned that if you use a phone for photos that the button needs to be on right, not below, left, or above. Might be a similar situation with you.

    Jolokia plants

Well, after a few months of shock, recovery, adjustments to lighting and weather, the plants are again getting robust. Theyve been outside as weather allows, and will be out almost full time in coming weeks. Ive started six more pepper plants that are doing great too. The Jolokias are about 3...

    how to stop flower groth?

True. Do a test on npk. See where you are. Taper your feeding to be more specific to n. As you get near ideal growth, switch back to pk. 2 cents.

When do you like to transplant?

I start with Aerogarden, then to double solo cup for 2-3 weeks, then 6in. Container 3 weeks, then 5 gallon grow bags. I notice explosive growth this way. Strong root development with little shock. My nutrients, soil, lighting and indoor\ outdoor migration helps too.

Too many buds to produce fruit?

There are kits at Home Depot and Lowes that allowxyku to check your npk. One thing I learned when my plants had massive flower drops was that my n peaked, but my pk was very low. I then changed the dynamics of my nutes to increase with mpk, and things have tapered off while growth and leaf...

My peppers are getting fancy at what they eat.

I have two large Jolokia plants that started off in dwc. They were at 850 and grew great. Once I transplanted to soil I found that they needed to be at 1100-1200. They then exploded with growth. It was also learned that, as mentioned above, you possibly have phosphorous deficiency. You may...

    Jolokia plants

It has been a week since my transplanting to soil from dwc. The roots were super healthy and long. Ive limited lighting and intensity. Ive lost about 20% of leaves from the plants, but it looks like They have stopped dropping leaves. I pulled all flowers and most pods so they will focus on...
