So I Need to Grow a Lime Tree

I would say they are about equal in size to a ping pong ball. They had a decent amount of seeds in them, not sure I would call it "lots" maybe 5 or 6 in each fruit.

So I Need to Grow a Lime Tree

Not saying you are wrong. Mexican limes are pretty close to what I would call a wild citrus anyway so it is worth a shot. I had a wild tree in the backyard of a house we rented a few years ago. Made delicious fruit, sour with a hint of bitterness and a nice floral scent from the rind. Tree was...

Fall Starts In Split Season Hot Climes?

I just assumed you were growing in ground. Mulch still works in containers, but I don't think many people bother since they are controlling the water application more closely.

tepin x lemon drop (new f3s in the dirt)

Sounds like damping off. It's a fungus that attacks right where the stem meets the ground on tender seedlings. Makes it shrivel up and turn white/gray. If it is damping off, that one is a goner.   To prevent, bottom water and make sure the soil surface stays dry. Personally I frequently top...

    Potato Blight...

Ugh.   Potatoes, Tomatoes, and Peppers are all very close cousins and thus are vulnerable to most of the same diseases. Get that thing gone and pronto. Be sure to wash your hands after handling diseased plants before touching any healthy plants.

So I Need to Grow a Lime Tree

Are you sure about this? Most citrus will cross pollinate very easily and the seed, even when pollinated with the same variety, has the tendency to revert to a wild type.

    Window growing

Your setup sounds like it will be fine. I wouldn't expect to get the full bushy, highly productive plants you see in some of the pics people post here, but you will likely get a medium sized plant, a little stretched out, and a small to medium crop of peppers. Any time you can harvest food from...

Fall Starts In Split Season Hot Climes?

+1 for okra, because...okra.   You can also set up some framing for shade cloth and start using it in June. 2-4 PM is the toughest part of the day, so if there is part shade using cloth or some taller plants you should be good. Go really heavy on the mulch to give your roots a nice cool...

food Need ideas for using frozen chiles

My experience with freezing pods: - Less fleshy pods seem to do better. Goats Weed, Thai, Cayenne, Tabasco all seem to be OK. - Green pods maintain a better texture than ripe pods. - If you are going to freeze pods, do it immediately after you pick them. - May be my imagination, but running the...

    Chilli Salt

I dry it in a frying pan.   Make your pepper-salt mix, dump in a pan to about 1/4" depth. Apply med-high heat, shaking pan to keep the vegetable bits from burning. You may want to do this outside since it will throw off some spicy fumes.

    Goat's Weed rocks!!!

I'm a fan. Had a plant that lasted three years that finally died this winter. Very robust plants, good heat on the pods and prolific. Plus it is a pretty plant. My assassin bugs seem to like the hairy foliage.

    Leaf Spot ID

Bacterial Leaf Spot. You can search this forum for various treatments, but in my experience BLS is difficult to control and either kills the plant or resolves on its own when environmental conditions change to be less favorable for the pathogen. If you only have a few affected leaves, pinch them...

    Planted my green tomatillos today...

Yellow salsa. Let me think about that....mmmmmmm....   :fireball:  YES!  :fireball:   I am just too lazy to grow green tomatillos since I can get them at the grocery and I don't use them very often. If I had more grow space I would probably plant some, but I barely have enough room for my peppers.

Nocturnal Chewer of Tomato and Tomatillo Leaves

Those are some ugly dudes. At first I thought that was a picture of toad poop. Actually, if you had some toads in your garden, I bet they would eat those things since they both are active at night.   toads=good

Now I am imagining GMO fruit flies with capsaicin genes spliced in.   SPICY FLIES!  :fireball:   PS. Anyone willing to SASBE me seeds for these? F1, F2, I don't care. Tepins are one of my favorite all time peppers. I get so excited when I find them growing in the wild. People look at me funny...

    Maximizing Plant bed area.

    2' between rows is more than needed. Reduce the outside and inter-row spacing to 1' and you can add another row!   Old: 2(edge) + 2(grow) + 2(walkway) + 2(grow) + 2(edge) = 10'   New: 1(edge) + 2(grow) + 1(walkway) + 2(grow) + 1(walkway) + 2(grow) + 1(edge) = 10'   In late summer your walkways...
