 Your roots are not at the bottom of the cup yet. So top watering insures that the root zone stays moist. Once the roots reach the bottom then bottom watering is always called for!

  That looks like coco. You need to water, check your water and or nutrient pH as well. If you can check the pH of your grow medium as well.

  Those are unusual looking for a Bhut. They look more like naga jolokia.

I agree on chopping half the plant off. I only take about an inch or two off the top when it begins to Y. This is what I want to avoid. The splitting then splitting again. I want a stocky manageable plant that is bushy.

I have grown the black bih. It's very cool looking pod. But flavor wise I prefer the Caramel and Red Bih's.
