Nick vs Brain Strain from Chris

Looks like I lucked out by digging deep inside a post to find a hidden gem. Count me in for some seeds. I'll PM you for the address.

    CMPMAN1974's 2011 Growing Log - Started 1/29/11

Yep, your plant is the same as mine and cmpman's. I think I am going to overwinter mine, since it was slow to mature, and put it in the ground next season. I still have plenty of the original seed stock available in case anyone else wants to try out the "not-galapagoense" mystery chile.

    CMPMAN1974's 2011 Growing Log - Started 1/29/11

cmpman, I am JUST now getting flowers to set fruit on my non-galapagoense chile peppers, and the green ones look a lot like yours. About how long did they take to ripen up once full size? I do agree that it is not a true galapagoense, but it is a very strange plant when compared to anything...

chinense Is there a difference: 7 Pot vs Trinidad Scorpion

It's pretty likely that the scorpions and 7 pots share a lot of similar genetic material, but it might be a stretch to say there is no difference whatsoever, much like naga morich and bhut jolokia probably share a lot of genetic information, but they are still distinct. It's all speculation...

Why does it hurt when I pee?

I've definitely had the frontal exit burn as well. Last time was after I ate an entire jar of Goya pickled tabascos, and when I woke up the next day I had quite a shocker during my morning pee.

    Help - What are These?

    Could be Shishito's as well.

Who can help identify this pepper?

If the seeds were black then it's a pretty safe bet they were c. pubescens. Otherwise, if the seeds from your mystery pepper were not black, and the peppers do indeed ripen to a solid red, I would guess serrano tampiqueno. I grew those last year, and they were very meaty and juicy with a burn...

    EarthQuake in Virginia

Felt it here in North Carolina, and it shook the whole apartment building. I didn't even consider the possibility of an earthquake until a friend called and asked if I felt it. I thought it was probably just really heavy machinery doing road construction nearby

chinense TS moruga and red 7 pot noticably worse then bhut jolokia?

my recent experience with a barrackpore 7 pot pretty much ended the debate for me. I've grown both in the same conditions, and the 7 pot pretty much wrecked me. the bhut, while still extremely hot, did not induce the dreaded, "what the f*** did i just do."

    hot-sauce TABASCO® Family Reserve

Nope? Their website says they ran out of room on Avery Island in 1965, which is quite a long time ago, and I bet they produce a lot more Tabasco sauce now than they did 50 years ago. I never said all the peppers used to make regular Tabasco were from South America, just most of them.

    PEPPER GROWING

I find that in the ground is better assuming you have decent soil. There is just more room for the plants to work with, the soil doesn't dry out as fast, and it's less expensive. Others like the ability to fine tune and control their plants in pots, but I'm a pretty lazy gardener, and I prefer...

Ate my first Trinidad super hot last night...

I should probably add that I have eaten whole Bhut Jolokia's before, and yes they were hot as hell, but I believe the hype now...Trinidad superhots are noticeably hotter than any Bhut/Naga I have ever tasted. I am also probably mentally insane, because I want another crack at the Barrackpore 7...

    Bhut jolokias with stingers

They really look closer to Naga Morich than Bhut Jolokia. Close cousins to be sure, but not quite the same. The bhut's that I have grown over the past few years (NMSU CPI) are longer and way bumpier than those shown above.

Ate my first Trinidad super hot last night...

Oh, and just for good measure, I got stung by a hornet only 10 minutes after I regained my composure. I was merely recuperating outside, sipping on a glass of wine, and a hornet decided that it had enough of me minding my own business and stung me right in the middle of my back. Not a good day...

Ate my first Trinidad super hot last night...

I also ate my last Trinidad super hot last night! I can honestly say that it was one of the worst 20 minutes of my life. I have mucho respect for you guys that can just pop these things whole and not go into some sort of panic attack. But I ate half of a barrackpore 7 pot that I split with a...

breeding Fatali x Tabasco Hybrid Confirmed

Let's suppose I wanted to keep this hybrid going in the future. Other than overwintering the plant or cloning it, how would one go about repeating this? I am assuming that a second, intentional cross with the fatali as the female, and the tabasco as the male would not necessarily result in the...
