A little root pruning wont hurt if you cant save them all. Might lose a few leaves though.

I have no experience in this scenario but if it were me, I would do as Devv says, plant out, but then remove all flowers, and then let them reset with a fresh outdoor set of flowers. Basically do all vegetative growth indoors, flower/pod up outside. In my own inexperienced opinion.     Happy...

Just keep cutting the flowers and buds off and your sweet basil should be fine. If your weather is okay you should be able to keep it growing as long as you feed it/dont let it seed.   Or just take cuttings and keep your basil going by perpetuity, its very easy to root.

One day Id love to learn how to grow mushrooms, this thread makes me feel that day is sooner rather than later.

It will be okay, you just might have to fertilize them more often. Or you can pull some of them out and just put them anywhere in the ground. Consider them killed and use them as experiments.
