If you guys were starting all this from scratch, what air stone and air pump would you buy? I read a couple pages ago that most of these systems don't result in sufficient dissolved oxygen. Does that mean I need a beastly air pump?
The link doesn't tell me my ppm. The website for my utility says about 300 ppm. It's not great for my plants but not much to be done about it. I'm not buying a $200 filter for peppers.
If you had a very long season, which would eventually yield more peppers: two plants each in 5 gallon pots, or one plant in a 10 gallon pot?
I know more soil helps a plant, but presumably this tradeoff stops at a certain point. You'd definitely get more pods from 10 plants each in 5 gallon pots...
Truevalue.com has a $10 off $100 coupon code if you order online and have it shipped to the store. That means my big 3.8 CF bales of promix were about $39 each. That's a lot less than the in-store price. Made it easy to decide against making my own this year.
They also have the big bags of...
I agree with turbo that I wouldn't plant them very deep. Plants do best when some of the roots are near the surface. If you bury the existing roots deep, they might not get as much oxygen.
But healthy peppers will *eventually* grow roots along the previously exposed stem. Otherwise taking...
I don't know about all that. I've gotten the best results I've ever had with my most recent set of plants, where I did use fabric pots. But I changed so much I can't attribute it to anything in particular.
Yes they can be trickier in that regard. I use blumats so I don't have to worry about that particular problem (just other, more serious problems, like runaway cones - which thankfully I've never experienced).
Interesting approach - I hope it works for you. For what it's worth, I do use and prefer fabric pots in my all-indoor grow. Just curious - what makes you say they wouldn't work indoors?
