I'd take a stab at saying they probably aren't going to be orange habs. Too bumpy for those. Now, as for what they actually are, time is needed. The early pods from reaper plants often don't form tails, so who knows.
Hang in there.
I haven't had the pleasure of a Bhutlah yet, but easily the hottest chocolate peppers I've had were from JoeMomma. They were a naga x congo. I have had reapers, brown morugas, and just about everything else under the sun, but those stood head and shoulders above anything else I've ever had.
So...
I agree with musky and JayT. I have STUPID amounts of hot stuff daily. Usually with not another soul in sight. Mostly powders, but when fresh pepper season is here it's game on. It's not about showing off, I just like it.
Soak one in hot water for a while and after it swells back up take a pic.
It looks like they were yellow/orange, and smooth skinned. Not normal characteristics for a run of the mill Bhut.
I've had Brazilian Ghosts. I disagree with the poor flavor comments. It wasn't one of my favorite fresh pepper flavors, but it was certainly better than average.
And the heat was great!
My assessment is that they would work very well for smoking and powdering. The sweetness comes out more...
