Both my 7 Pot Primo are doing great. (quality PRF seed stock) I have one in a 7 gallon (pictured) that's a little bushier and another in a 5 gallon that's surprisingly a little taller. Both look like they have good pod production. Pics were snapped just before sunrise this morning. 7 Pot...

Thanks all for the comments & yes, Jeremy - this is my 1st year growing the Yellow Scorps. I like the looks of them so far, hopefully they're tasty.

Have I still got time to grow a batch?

See if someone will sell you a plant - that's your best bet. Maybe some garden centers have a seedling or two left. Next year, plant Chinense seeds in January and the other types in February or early March for best results.

How long should I allow my cayenne pepper to ripen? Why do the buds yellow and die?

Every plant I have dropped early buds this year. They all worked their way out of it without any help from me. The faster you pick red peppers, the better IMO. Less bad things can happen to it in the safety of your dwelling and it encourages the plant to make more.

    Yellow 7 ripening question

Seems like you may have had some early freaks - that's quite common. You see that especially with weird pod shapes. Now, after the plant has straightened itself out, you're seeing the real pods. I haven't had one Chinense of any type ripen yet. A few of my Yellow Scorpions are just starting...

Well done - it takes balls! Luckily, you ate the milder "bottom half", the Top 1/3 is insane.

    Problem with dried, curled leaves

Yeah, probably the strong sun was too much for them at this stage. Just keep away from direct light for a while and they will recover. The fan is a good idea, but just a gentle breeze for a few minutes a day at this stage. You can gradually increase it as they get bigger and stronger. The...

    Flowers dropping and leaves curling

Nice link - that is a good study. I'm not surprised. The Bottom Line • Bone meal supplies high levels of phosphorus and calcium, elements that are rarely limiting in non-agricultural soils. • Phosphorus, from bone meal or other sources, does not “stimulate” plant growth; it is only a mineral...

    ThePepperGrowingMan's 2011 Grow Log

Jonahs look great Jeremy - true to what grew for me. Those seeds came to me from Tony Q down in Tampa. (aka scoville) Nice plants - mine won't die and is on it's 3rd year. Basically another barely edible 7 Pot to scare your friends with. I prefer the Bhut in every way.

    When should I transplant?

Cucumber seeds look nothing like pepper seeds, that's a major mix up. But Cukes are fun to grow and great healthy food so it's all good. Cucumber seeds

Sounds like they were over nuted from the get go - the MG organic choice potting soil has all you need for the year and more just by itself. I think the Black Kow is a pretty good supplement, especially for garden soil - but not to add to over fertilized potting soil like MG. I'll bet a...

    Flowers dropping and leaves curling

I used 2 tablespoons of Osmocote 14-14-14 for a 5 gallon container this year and I think that was too much. Next year I'm going to cut that in half and try another container with just a measly 1 tablespoon of Tomato Tone for the whole bucket and see what happens. I use Pro-Mix BX that only has...
