hot-sauce Does anyone still use Tabasco sauce?

A while ago I was at a friends birthday-dinner party and they served all kinds of appetizers, one of them was marinated portugese anchovies, which was served with tabasco. It was pretty damn good. I stole the recipe and recreated it later and tried with different hotsauces, but nothing came...

    Identify this pepper

One of my colleagues originates from Hungary, she likes spicy foods just as much as I do, so we're constantly comparing eachothers peppers & hotsauce. Now she went back to Hungary for a week, and when she returned, she brought me some mild peppers, but the taste is quite nice. unfortunately, she...

Jack Link's "Sweet & Hot" Beef Jerky

jack Links is pretty much the only jerky sold here locally. Sweet & hot was indeed a disappointment, the peppered version is better. Or you could do what i do and buy the original or teriyaki flavored jerky and add your own spice mix. And if you buy the bigger packs of jack links 'premium...

    favorite Least favorite varieties

I second that... They are usually called 'spaanse pepers' (spanish peppers). they have no heat at all and the flavor isn't great either. I have found 1 thing they are good for tho... chop em up and put them in chocolate sauce with some thyme and fresh orange juice... tastes great on chicken :)

    hot-sauce Looking for another sauce

Well, I think I need to start at a really really really low heat level with my wife. I had her try the Firefoods Spicy Apple Jam and she thought it was way too hot... I think this is going to be harder than I thought...

    Mustard Recommendations

Lowensenff and Colmans are 2 of my favorites that are more internationally known. But mustard is actually one of the very few things that we have some excellent kinds of here in the Netherlands... My favorite mustard from the Netherlands is Doesburg, which is a very coarse mustard. Good stuff....

I don't think the color of the cap has anything to do with the hotness... I tasted red, green yellow and purple capped versions, but they seemed just about the same to me. Maybe it just goes for a certain brand? tried this stuff on sushi too, pretty intense when combined with wasabi...

    hot-sauce Looking for another sauce

I got another bottle of the Reserve sauce as the first one is almost gone... No need to ration it anymore now :) And I also got: Spicy Apple Jam (which I just tried and I must say, it's a good thing I don't live in the UK, cos I'd prolly drive over to Firefoods HQ and steal their entire stock...

Sorry for the late reply, but thanks for the suggestions everyone! I think I'm going to get her some of the 3 hot tamales stuff. hot-sauce Looking for another sauce

This time I'm trying to ease my wife into the wonderful world of hotsauce. She really is a beginner when it comes to spicy food, so I was thinking to get her something slightly sweet, fruity and very mild heat. And if it's low cal, that would be perfect :) What can you guys and gals recommend...

Well, the Netherlands is 195km wide at the broadest point. (and only 310km north to south), but next week all of that insane commuting will be over! in 3 days, I will receive the keys to my new house, 8.5km from my work, so from then on, I'll be doing my daily commute on my Challenge Hussicane...

    hot-sauce Foodex Sriracha hot chilisauce

Well, I'm in serious doubt about about the 'made right' part, as I cooked it up myself at home, from store bought pre-seasoned ingredients. No where near as good as when I get it at one of the shops here, but still a pretty decent meal. Falafel is probably my favorite vegetarian food, Shawarma...

Are you sure it's the same? I sure tasted garlic, but I wouldn't call it the main taste. Of course that could just indicate that the production is not consistent. I tried it on a few foods now, Shawarma (or Chawarma, Shwarma, Shuarma, Shawerma, Shoarma, Shaorma or however you prefer to spell...
