    Any arizona growers out there?

All plants in the garden have fruit as we speak but the larger and heavier yields will come in later in the season unless we get blessed with a cooler july than normal.

    Any arizona growers out there?

Just up the road a bit (Prescott). We mulch heavy and use shade cloth over most of the garden. Last year we started using misters and the seemed to help some. When the temps climb into triple numbers about all we can do is damage control but it seem to always work out. Jim

My dead dirt - a report

Peat and maybe some fine powdered clay. I like your idea of digging down a bit maybe even go down to the hard pan and build up from there heck you could turn the worst into the best with some work with the shovel. Any AZ chile pepper growers out there?

Shade cloth in the 60% range and heavy mulch. Our lack of humidity is also helped with the mulch. We well every so often water the straw down. Our plants are watered with drip lines under the mulch. This works great for the chilies. The tomatoes on the other hand are much more picky.

    Strong Root Systems...Boosters?

A little oat meal, bone meal, even corn meal does good things for the roots and if you have some spare hair that works very well over a longer time frame. Jim

Grind peppers with or without seeds?

We are everything but the stem type folks. Only reason we take seeds out is for the next years garden. So I guess we are just cheap and lazy.

Sheldon, Sheldon, Sheldon... Keep the Habs out of your eyes! As far as the bleach goes just let the seeds dry out. It helps in a few ways. Keep fungus and rot at bay also helps break down the covering of the seed to help speed up germination. Happy to know the seeds made it and that the powder...
