fermenting I made a new sauce, this time with fermented peppers

A food Mill is on my list. Thanks for your explanation. The next batch I'll cook longer and blend more. I still will strain out seeds. I don't like them in my sauces.

fermenting I made a new sauce, this time with fermented peppers

I like the habanero flavor as well. In my opinion it came out fantastic. Nothing fancy, just habanero hot sauce. I have found that I like my sauces without chunks. I made one that was pineapple based and it was good, just too thick for me. I'll make more that are thick in the future, I have...

Why did I not try and make hot sauce before?

It's got orange habaneros, orange bell peppers a little onion, carrot and garlic. This time I didn't press it through the strainer as much as the last batch I made and it was. Much more liquidity than before. I really like the consistency. Much like tobasco sauce. It wasn't nearly as hot as I...

Why did I not try and make hot sauce before?

I should have been trying to make sauces years ago. Sauce try #2. Orange habanero base. It's not as hot as I'd like, but I'll add more habaneros for the next batch. Knowing me, I'll over compensate and it will be super hot.

fermenting Will fermenting different peppers together impart flavor from one to another?

I plan to ferment some peppers for sauce. I'll just be cutting them in half, not going to make them into mash first. I will probably make different sauces with each type of pepper, but would prefer to just put them in one large container instead of a couple smaller ones. If I mix them together...

    Genetikx pepper sauce

Great looking sauces Genetic. I really love how the sauces all look uniform in color and smooth throughout. Do you run it through a food mill at all? Or is she it all the blender?

I made my first sauce. I need some help/advice.

Thanks for the feedback.  Especially the tip to use an old sock for straining my sauce    I used this to strain the sauce, the old sock may work better.   It got all of the seeds and some pulp.  The food mill is on my Christmas list.  I need to have something for my wife to get me.   I...

    My plants are dying :(

My guess is they dried out based on your description. This is my third year trying to overwinter plants, my first two years were unsuccessful. I watered infrequently as is always suggested, but I didn't water enough. They all died. This year I am doing better at keeping then moist and have 5 of...

    lighting lighting times

I'll weigh in with my experience. I run 4 foot duel bulb T5 fixtures 24/7. My seedlings are in my garage and it can get cold, so the lights help with a little heat. I've never had any issues planting out. So I don't think you will have a problem with whatever your light schedule is.

I agree. They look neat but I thought they had no taste. I'm interested in knowing how the Medovaja Kapiyia tastes.

seeds Seedlings, when to cut your losses.

I'm in NC as well. My seedlings that sprouted first are just now (2 weeks old) starting to put out their first true leaves. We do have a good growing season here, so you could start your seeds over. But are you sure that your current plants are not going to make it? What makes you think they...

seeds What is the longest you waited for a seed to germinate?

I give them 2 weeks before I start more. I let them go until 3 weeks before I completely five up on them. As you said, waiting too long will not give your plant time to produce. So better to replant earlier just in case.

    vendor European site; Tasty-peppers.nl

I ordered some seeds around Christmas because I was looking for a particular variety. I ended up ordering three types and was pleased when I received an extra variety sent along with my order.   I planted two of the varieties and had 100% germination (4 total seeds) in 8 days.   I would order...

    Solo Cups

I pack my solo cups into a plastic storage tote, but even still it is not ideal. I'm planning on purchasing the square pots with trays, just didn't get around to it this year. I do have some that I reuse from other purchased plants, but they are not all uniform and I don't have the tray to fit...
