    Bhut shriveled leaves...

Yep you were right. I repotted the Bhut and the base of the pot was just a clump of roots! I repotted the Numex Twilight too and it was starting to show the same signs. We'll see how things improve. :D

    Bhut shriveled leaves...

The pot size is roughly the same as the Numex Twilight, 6.75" in diameter and 5" deep. Too small?

    Bhut shriveled leaves...

I was reading about calcium and using bone meal to help. Maybe that's worth a shot? The fertilizer I used is the same concentrate and watered at roughly the same interval as the Numex Twilight (if that helps at all). I wonder if the Bhut is just more sensitive to over fertilizing, while the...

    Bhut shriveled leaves...

I have a Bhut and a Numex Twilight that were started from seed at approximately the same time, watered the same and both sat side by side under a 400W MH light. Now the Numex Twilight looks awesome but the top of the Bhut leaves are curled and dry. I moved the light up 3-4 weeks ago to see if...

pics Selective pruning to increase crop experiment w/pics

I'm really new to growing peppers but when you say you are pruning leaves, are you plucking them or cutting them off? If you are cutting them off, are you doing it right against the stalk or a bit down the leaf? Hope this makes sense. :D

    HELP Peppers under attack?!?!?!?!

I must have nuclear resistant aphids because I have tried all the soap/neem oil tricks and they still come back with a vengance. For an indoor solution what method actually works to wipe out aphids for good? Next to going over every leaf and smushing any visible aphids.

    First frost

If weather forcasters were doctors we'd all be dead. Just be thankful for that. It's been mighty cool all summer here (Saskatchewan), we had a hot Saturday this weekend and now it's back to the cold. Plan on digging up and pulling in some peppers soon.

    pests aphids?

Well...I couldn't find a spray application of Sevin locally so I left home all last week to Hawaii... Came back to three habs growing (only a tiny one when I left) and a TON of aphids! :onfire: Found them on the floor, on the walls...and all over the plants... I decided to take drastic...

    pests aphids?

True! I am running a hydro setup, one perk is that it doesn't offer a hiding place (like soil) for pests and bugs...so instead they are all in plain view and a PITA to get rid of. I have considered cutting down all my habs to stumps, throwing out the plant matter, spraying any cranny an aphid...

    pests aphids?

I have 6 hab plants growing in an ebb-flow system in my living room. Now in the past two months I have nearly emptied a bottle of neem oil and just began using the safer's soap about two weeks ago...I STILL HAVE APHIDS! I am all for being "natural", but I need some tough chemicals that will...

    pests Aphid larva?

Damn! Zombie aphids...the worst kind! Guessing neem oil doesn't affect aphids in the larvae stage? Soap method is next? So sick of these damn aphids! Edit: Definitely not ladybug larvae, the plants are kept indoors so there is no chance of ladybugs showing up. I bought the hab...

    pests Aphid larva?

Good! I didn't want to see these things come to life!

    pests Aphid larva?

So I have been battling the aphids on my habs for about 2 months now. They will go into domancy for a few days and then come back strong...now I'm wondering are these aphid larva? Or another bug? Sorry for the poor photos...hard to get a really good macro shot with my camera. I've used...

    Dirt peppers......

Must have a lot of PK? Feed it more Nitrogen and it won't flower/fruit and the plant will get a lot bigger.

    Ordering from Chili Pepper Institute

Not that I could find around here... Have any suggestions for more exclusive peppers? I'm totally green to all the types of peppers so almost any advice is more than what I know. :D origamiRN, which would you prefer Bailey's Pequin or the Numex Twilight? What is different about the Bailey's...

    Once pods set(high nitrogen)?

Nitrogen boosts vegitative growth (ie: leaves and the plant itself). I used a somewhat heavy nitrogen mixture to grow my habs as quick as possible to a decent size, then switched it over to (less nitrogen) to begin the bloom/fruiting stage. I'm doing this in a hydro setup so the change is very...

    hydroponic HYDROPONICS

I have six Habaneros growing in a ebb-and-flow setup along with one Jalapeno in a DWC setup. The habs have taken off like rockets as opposed to the other habs in the garden (which get far more sunglight). I am not a green thumb person by nature, but a light switched on this year and I have had...

    Ordering from Chili Pepper Institute

This is what I'm thinking of picking up: 2 x Bhut Jolokia (sheer heat) 1 x Red Caribbean (for variation) 1 x Orange Habanero (for variation) 1 x Serrano (typical pepper used for salsa) 1 x Aji Limon (beautiful looking pods) 1 x Numex Jalmundo (large jalapeno) 1 x Cayenne (for variation) 1 x...

    Ordering from Chili Pepper Institute

I plan on buying two packages of Bhut Jolokia. :D However I am not against mild peppers with fantastic taste either. I just want to grow a variety of really cool peppers that have thier own special trait, heavy production, heat, flavor, ease to grow and whatever else you guys may suggest...

    Ordering from Chili Pepper Institute

I'm in my first season growing Habanero's via hydro along with various other mild peppers. Now I am considering ordering some peppers from the NMSU Chili Pepper Institute, my cousin lives in Las Cruces and my sister and mom are in NM right now and can bring back the seeds no problem. What...
