Anybody grow coleus or know about it?

I enjoy growing Coleus. Seedlings typically do not get their "true colors" until they have at least 4-6 sets of true leaves in my experience. Lighting can also have a significant effect on the color of the leaves. My Coleus have very vivid , bright colors when grown in my grow tent with a fancy...

    Canedog Offseason Season 2022/23

I noticed (in my experience) that the purple/red Tulsi (holy basil) doesn't get its color under LEDs. Once I put it outside the coloration developed. It is normal for the leaves to be a bit wavy.

    Bell peppers

Seed Savers Exchange offers a nice variety of heirloom bell-type peppers. I'm not a fan of most bell peppers, but I do remember liking the "Sweet Chocolate" from them.

misc Too early for 2024 grow list ..........?

When I used to have a garden and could grow many varieties, I would sacrifice the disappointments to the hornworms...because they are pretty cool when they aren't devouring my favorite pepper plants! Plus I enjoyed watching the adult moths nectar at my Daturas on summer evenings.

misc Too early for 2024 grow list ..........?

I have a SpiderFarmer2000 at about 50-60% (at 100% it was turning all the leaves yellow). I don't know the actual specs/measurements. 13hrs light/11hrs dark. I don't usually top the peppers, but I definitely prune and shape frequently. I also keep them quite small, in small containers, as I...

    baccatum Criollo Sella

I grew it years ago. I remember it had decent flavor when ripe, but very little heat. It was quite prolific too.

    annuum Thai peppers

Ah yes, much like Indian peppers but seemingly worse....search a particular cultivar/variety name and you get several different, or different looking peppers. Kitazawa Seed used to have a few varieties before they changed ownership. They still list them, but the images/descriptions look...

    Bold Badger 2023 Glog

Yes I've grown them for years. I keep one in a grow tent so that we have fresh leaves year round. My wife (she's of Indian descent) and I eat mainly traditional Indian fare, and we use it in many dishes. It definitely goes great in egg preparations (fried, scrambled, omlet, bhurji) with a few...

    Bold Badger 2023 Glog

Yeah the seeds take up most of the berry. I always eat the fleshy part before sticking the seeds in the soil. I detect a slight bing cherry flavor along with the curry leaf flavor.

    Bold Badger 2023 Glog

Have you tried the curry-leaf berries? Definitely a unique, pleasant flavor. Maybe it could be described as a cherry blended with curry leaf?

    flavor Best flavoured pepper(s) 2023

An Indian Jwala type pepper called "Bangalore Torpedo" I got from SSE. The fresh light green peppers taste great chopped up and used as a condiment. Obviously useful for cooking with too. A little less hot than the Pusa Jwala, but same flavor.

    Canedog Offseason Season 2022/23

I've been chasing those upward growing De Arbol for awhile but always end up with the standard variety. Maybe I'll order from Sandia and test my luck. I haven't seen good PC1 in forever! The last ones I grew out ended up with more of a pequin size/look.

    2023 grow has started!

Yeah I know, that's why I at least gave them a try. Must be the temp was too high for these ones to stay viable.
