    vendor Thank you to Jabski

I ordered a SFRB from Joe the other day and it arrived right on time. Just opened the box and found a pile of gorgeous brown morugas just waiting to be used in various ways. The pods are beautiful and I can't wait to use them! Thanks, Joe!

Anyone bringing in their plants from outdoors?

I will be bringing a couple select plants (ghost pepper, peruvian white habanero) inside and putting them into my small indoor greenhouse. I have it lit with fluorescent t5 plant grow bulbs and LED blue/red grow lights. I started these plants indoors and in the greenhouse and moved them all...

pests Using Chalk to Battle ants / aphids

What worked battling aphids for me was first spraying the plants down with neem and dawn dish soap water solution, then using diatomaceous earth on the dirt, the plants and everything else on the deck. Then, going back with a spray bottle on jet with dawn and literally smooshing/wiping the...

    Brown Moruga Thread

One of my favorite peppers. I tried growing a plant from seeds I got from a sfrb. The plant has grown strong and beautiful, but the pods all turned a deep and terrifying red and remind me of a primo. Ah well, next year!

food The General Taco thread. All things taco.

Hahaha, I bent them into taco form to eat them. And yes, the aji picante sauce has a TON of cilantro, as well as green onion parsley, etc. I typically fry the tortillas in a cast iron full of peanut or veggie oil, depending on what's on hand

food The General Taco thread. All things taco.

Spicy Chicken Tinga with aji picante (made with my very own aji pineapples), crema sauce, shredded cabbage and cotijo Mexican cheese, all on top of fried tortillas :D This was so delicious it was practically tear inducing. Brought leftovers to work and let people try some of the chicken; people...

vendor Wicked Mike's peppers this guy ROCKS

Got my boxes from WM yesterday, they were STUFFED full of awesomeness!        Had a field day today making some various awesome things. Dried the majority of the dedo de moca (i had to have some on a sandwhich), made a bahamian goat pepper jelly (it is seriously insane how delicious it is)...

craziest things you have seen in public

Up in NH where I lived for 27 years:   A goat wearing a purple sweater running wild. A man walking backwards down the road, urinating. A car randomly burst into flames while parked and catch the others around it on fire.   Plus many more things I can't think of.

    Five SFRBs- $14 each

Ahh, I gotcha.   I love the Matthews area, there is a great farmers market over there every saturday morning. There is one dude who makes homemade cheese- his smoked mozz is to DIE for. Anyway, if you ever have an abundance of pods and want to skip the shipping hassle, we could meet up and I...

I'm in Steelecreek!   I'm afraid I'm not familiar with that thread. Was someone stealing pods?

Hey if you're in Charlotte I can always come over and raid your peppers  for a price, of course!

    My garden

always fun to can them. I fermented a bunch and made a couple great sauces, there is a lot of info in the forums on how to do it! You can also dry a bunch and crush them into pepper flakes and give them to family members as presents. They may hate you after but they can't say you never gave 'em...

Do you ever wonder how hot something you are eating would be if you hadn't built up a tolerance?

Frequently I'll bring peppers I have grown or gotten from members here to my office to add to food. Everyone is always so curious about them and asks if they're hot. Without fail, I always tell them nah, it isn't too hot, try one!! They always do, and they always end up freaking out. One girl...

New England or Upstate NY growers

Never had good luck back home in NH when it came to peppers unless I started them really early indoors, like Dec/Jan. They take a while to set and ripen.

So uh, I might need very serious advise.

Probably a triploid. I have very little experience with this but that's what it sounds like to me. Did the plant grow quicker than what you were expecting? I have also read (I cannot attest to the accuracy of this) that triploid pepper plants will, instead of having two branches start from the...

    Virgil's Small Scale Glog

Been a little while since I posted, but I have made some really great progress! First off, I had a terrible aphid problem on my deck that had infested EVERYTHING, including the bullet habs, the peruvian habs and the ghost pepper. I had to get rid of all my flowers and put all the plants through...

pests Got Pests? Free repellant prototype (limited offer)

After an extensive amount of spraying, I'm sorry to say the aphids would not go away :( following the mixing directions initially, I utilized the spray every other day. A lot of the other crawly things that were around seemed to go away, but the aphid population has been pretty resilient. I then...

    Virgil's Small Scale Glog

After eating some of these scorpions I have growing, I think they got crossed with a primo; they had a very similar flavor and color. Very delicious, but not what I was going for. Either way, can't wait for this thing to push more pods out!
