1 foot in the dirt and 1 foot in hydro; what's a good quality PH/EC tester?

It's been about 6 months since the last post- so how are your various pH/EC/TDS meters faring? Have you made any changes? had problems with your meters or have new recommendations?

GH test kit was the first one I used. Worked well, but I felt I needed more precision.

Had a Hanna checker die on me pretty quickly. It went way out of wack and couldn't be recalibrated.

Tried pH test strips, but again, hard to see the difference between 5 and 6. I'd use these for soil though. I've also seen some with better resolution than mine.

Picked up eBay copies of a pH and EC Truncheon most recently. I check every couple of weeks. They have enough precision for me. Happy so far.

Once I switched to RO filtered water, I don't need to monitor that closely anymore.

Mine is still working great and I check the pH 3-4 times a week (not including 2-3 times in a few hours if I have to adjust it). It's been great but thanks to advice from Potawie I do keep the probe in solution all the time.

Mike
