15 Super Hots----1 Week

I knew you were in for a wild ride today if you consumed both a Douglah and an SR 7, but a Douglah on an empty stomach is just begging for torture.

I hope you recover soon and tackle the next review soon cause I'm enjoying this thread.

Keep up the good fight. :)

Hey man, keep it up. You got bit back, it was only a matter of time. I got hit hard as hell once and now I take the extra precautions to make sure I have food in my stomach. Bananas and milk, next time some ramen.

Kinda messes with your mind, but TRUST me, you will crave them when your all out. No matter the pain you went through.

Keep it up, the end is in sight.

you're a braver man than i am. last year, i had 1/4 of a douglah that i got from Silver Surfer and it was all (maybe more) than i could handle. good luck.

LOL I remember after a Butch T, I was in the fetal position on the floor saying I would never do it again. The next day I was thinking.... I would probably never do it again. A few days later.... I was eating another one. It is a strange addiction. As for the Douglah, I agree with you. I have never had one that I would say tastes even ok. The one exception was one that was very overripe. It had a nice sweetness to it and had lost that battery acid taste. The problem was that it had lost its texture and was kind of slimy. Great job! Skip a day the SR is the same as a BrainStrain. You will need all your strength to enjoy it.

WOW. My hats off to ya dude! I just stumbled onto this thread. Read every review so far, Great stuff! :woohoo:
Sorry to hear about that bad experience. That's one story that made me take out my mental notebook and jot down.. "never ever ever eat a super on an empty stomach." lol.. Props to you for trying all these! My friend and I cut a bhut jolokia in half (neither of us have ever tried a superhhot) we were both dead set on eating the halves though scared as hell.. We brought out a trashcan certain one of us was going to puke while the other puked in the bathroom lol. They're intimidating as hell the first time around! We both pushed through it with no water/milk or vomiting thankfully :) It is an experience like no other. The body high for me felt like the equivalent of a huge dose of painkillers. I couldn't feel my hands and legs for a good 5 minutes. Crazy stuff.

Looking forward to the others!

Sorry to hear about the stomach pain. I have had a much milder case of the stomach cramps when I decided to make scorpion poppers with cream cheese battered in cornbread mix. I was starving and they smelled so good. I ate two of them before the heat hit my stomach and I had to lay down curled up for about 5 minutes before I could walk it off a bit. I could only imagine how much pain it would have been without the cream cheese as a buffer. I feel for you man and I am enjoying the posts.

Keep it up!

Nick

I would have been really curious to know what would have happened had I consumed the Douglah on a full stomach. Don't get me wrong, the Douglah is a real monster, a monster that would have left me in a panicked state of pain regardless of my state of satiety. With that said I believe that the brown Douglah x Scorpion cross was worse. That pepper made me feel like someone put a blow torch to my mouth and throat. That pepper crippled me. The Douglah experience was worse (and that's really saying something) but I'm left wondering as to what extent that can be attributed to the empty stomach.

I'd personally be more inclined to grow the brown Douglah hybrid as the pod was larger, denser and seemed to provide more heat. To reiterate, the overall comparison is difficult to make due to the stomach content variable.

I really appreciated everyone's commentary. I'd like to reply to everyone individually but reading all the encouragement has given me the motivation to eat another pepper. I'm rather sleep deprived so my intent is to enjoy a toasty snack, write a brief commentary and get some sleep.

There has been one schedule change. My stomach still isn't 100% right plus I'm feeling a little gun shy. All the peppers I have left have scary reputations. The Naga seems like it would be the easiest to eat. Am I right? I'll find out soon enough. I've already cut it in half. I honestly tried for two evenly sized pieces but one half is larger than the other and has more placenta. I'm doing the smaller half.

Naga
I ate the pepper less than 12 minutes ago and I'm already back. I have no doubt that the half which I didn't eat would have been hotter but after this afternoon's mishap I'm quite content to give myself a break.

The Naga seemed to smell a little better than the red bhut. The Naga smelled a little fruitier, a little sweeter and had a little less of that acrid capsaicin smell. The Naga tasted better than the red bhut as well. Like the aroma indicated the taste was a bit sweeter and fruitier than the bhut with less of a harsh after taste.

The Naga was hotter than the Fatali and the Bih but lagged behind the rest of the peppers which I've consumed this week. I'm confident that my heat comparison wouldn't have changed had I eaten the larger half.

Overall I liked the Naga. I've heard from many members that the Naga is a prolific producer and is less temperamental than the bhut. With that said I'll probably grow it next year.

At the moment I have the Infinity, Primo, SR and two different red Douglah x Scorpion peppers to go. I really didn't plan this well as these are five incredibly daunting strains to go out on. Assuming that I finish up this weekend I'm going to have one miserable three pepper day. The remaining five are all firm, no soft spots. I may have to drag this out through Monday. We'll see. I'm off to bed.

That's the way to get back on that horse. :)

The Naga is my fave chili for hot sauce. I'm making a huge pot of chili right now for tomorrow and Naga sauce is always an ingredient.

Love reading these reviews. I can sympathize with your stomach issues with the Douglah. The way you described the feelings after the Douglah is almost exactly how I felt after eating a bhut jolokia on an empty stomach. I had eaten bhuts before without issue but that was always after having eaten at least an hour before. Good on you for keeping it down though. Since bhuts are the hottest thing I've eaten, I probably wouldn't have been so lucky.

Simple incredible. Or one of the craziest things I've ever heard someone do! Balls of steel Captain that's all I can say.

Simple incredible. Or one of the craziest things I've ever heard someone do! Balls of steel Captain that's all I can say.

The Captain's balls are starting to shrivel. Actually, I don't know if it's the balls or the stomach that's failing but it's looking like this is going to have to be an 8 day affair as today all I've consumed has been the SR 7.

I thought that my body had recouped enough from the Douglah fiasco to be able to handle the Naga. I felt relatively fine as I was writing the Naga review last night but once I got into bed the nausea came and went in waves. Today my stomach was OK but not perfect. I ate the SR 7 nearly 2 hours ago.

SR 7
In my opinion this was the coolest looking pod in the whole collection. Deep, evenly spaced ridges created 3 symmetrical sections. The pod was bumpy, angry red and had a cool looking stinger. The pepper was a decent size and quite dense. Such a bad ass pod.

The inside had an awesome 3D labyrinth look to it. There was a nice solid mass of placenta and seeds. The pod smelled like berries. Now I feel bad saying that yet another pod tasted sweet and fruity but alas, we have a repeat there. Both the taste and smell belied the intense raw heat of the pepper.

The heat came on strong and fast. I was pleased that the majority of the burn was relegated to my tongue. I seem to do better with the mouth/tongue burn than with the throat burn. Although the heat was intense what got me was my newly acquired Achilles heel, my stomach. I think it was a combination of my GI system still not being 100% right after the Douglah experience and the fact that I'm perhaps a bit quicker to flinch when my brain perceives stomach distress.

This was yet another pepper that I really liked. I found it to be at the top of the pile in the looks department and near the very top in terms of heat and flavor. It certainly recommend this one.

Edit: My stomach is feeling close to normal. I have no doubt that I'll be OK tomorrow and ready for 2 peppers followed by 2 peppers come Monday.

I know that this is redundant but listen to the other posters and myself when we emphasize the extremely unpleasant consequences of heating super hots on an empty stomach. Miserable, miserable, miserable experience....

As of the moment I have 13 peppers down with 2 to go. I'll be quite pleased when I've finished the lot of peppers and can take a break from the super hots. Today I sampled both of the red Douglah x Scorpion crosses.

#1
I wasn't wild about this pepper. The pod was somewhat nondescript with regards to both the exterior as well as the interior. The smell of the cut pod lacked any of the sweet, fruity smell common to scorpions. The dominant taste characteristic was a somewhat unappealing bitterness. The pod shape, taste and smell were far more similar to that of the Douglah. I never would have guessed that there was any scorpion genetics in this strain. The pod was quite hot but nowhere near as hot as the Douglah or the brown Douglah x Scorpion cross.

The red Douglah x Scorpion #1 was actually the second pod which I consumed today. I had eaten the #2 approximately 90 minutes earlier. My stomach felt fine after prior to consuming the pod but within 2-3 minutes after swallowing I felt nauseous. Four antacid tablets proved an effective cure.

#2
Although this pod was also the spawn of a Douglah and a T.S. it proved to be a completely different experience. This pod was more symmetrical and had a cool looking stinger. It definitely resembled a Scorpion.

The scent and flavor were also very Scorpionesque. This strain had the least amount of heat of the 3 Douglah x Scorpion crosses. In this case least certainly is anything but synonymous with mild as the pepper still packs a blow. Even though I liked this pepper I still probably wouldn't grow it. It didn't taste quite as good as a pure bred T.S. and although hot, it lacked the utterly crippling blow of the brown Douglah x Scorpion.

Tomorrow I'll sample the Primo 7 and the Infinity. Tuesday will be a well deserved break and then on Wednesday I'm going to eat a whole, large red bhut to see how it treats me. Prior to this week it would utterly cripple me. I'm very curious to see how my heat tolerance has evolved over this past week.

I'm extremely happy to be done. Don't get me wrong, the week was extremely worthwhile in that it gave me exposure to a whole host of super hots. I now have a much better first hand idea of what the super hots have to offer and what precisely do I want to grow.

As some of you predicted I did indeed have problems maintaining motivation as the week progressed. Initially I felt nothing but excitement at the prospect of sampling a new pepper. By the end of the week I was pushing pepper snack time back later and later in the day such that the 2 peppers were spaced by relatively little time. Anyways, time for a final couple of reviews.

Infinity,
The infinity surprised me a bit in that I had really come to associate red + stinger with a sweet, fruity taste. The Infinity sure fit that bill but it had a somewhat bitter taste. I couldn't detect any fruity, berry-like taste at all. The heat was intense and rather brutal. My stomach protested (Silly stomach! It should know better by now!).

Primo
Yes, I know, my reviews have been getting shorter and lamer as the week has progressed. Regrettably this review will be no excpetion. It was hot. Tasted decent. Smelled like hot pepper. Not bad. Might grow.

Well... that was certainly a large undertaking you chose. I must say, well done. You now have an understanding of the greatness and power of these superhots that you can only get by taking the bull by the horns. When I started growing, I vowed to eat the first ripe pod from each variety I grew raw and whole. That is how I learned what each had to offer in flavor and pain. I went through many of the same things you did. I too have spent evenings on the bathroom floor with cold sweats just wanting this evil inside me to come out. Great job on the reviews.
