2011 Grow log

Starting out w/ a seed that just popped after being underground for > a month. I put both serrano seeds and jalapeno seeds in this pot. They didn't seem to sprout so I forgot about them. I'd be happy w/ either one because that would make the 4th different strain that I've grown. Already had some success w/ Kung Pao, phrik khi nu, & Hab's

Lastly, Naga Dorsets that have germinated a few weeks back (mine grow slow because I don't have any lighting yet, aside from the sun that I'm able to get for a portion of the day) I'm very excited about these. I'm going to have to choose which ones to keep because there's @ 6 that sprouted. I'll prolly just save the two strongest/stoutest ones

Dot Com, you have some wonderful plants. The leaves on your Bhuts are large and healthy looking. That's a good indication on having a strong growing plant...good luck

nice lookin' plants there dot dude.

never give up, those plants only really do one thing and that is grow peppers.
maybe try a few excursions to the patio for the pubes
eventually something will be of eating condition.

oh yeah, most jalapeƱos are eaten green, i think you should (need to) eat some :woohoo:

(try to listen to what the pubes are telling you, i think they are "almost" gonna
kick down with some somethin' somethin' soon)

thanks for the encouragement fellers. :) I'm an apprentice farmer :D (only my 2nd season ) I'll continue to be patient w/ the pubescens as oftentimes, when I think a plant is dormant, it'll put out flowers within a week.

Not yet. Here's an update: a Thai (don't know the specific strain) that I cut down to a 6" nub a few months ago. Its now @ 130 cm/50 inches again. :woohoo: This strain is quite prolific and in the tobasco pepper heat area:

Here's my other Thai plant. One of these, either the above plant or this one, was grown w/ a dried seed from a thai hot pepper pod sold for consumption & the other was grown from a fresh thai pod also so for consumption (eating) at the market. This one was also cut down to the nub after the last harvest a few months:

They both put out a lot of flowers/peppers at each node which is a good thing ;)

Heres my 2nd-tallest pepper plant. A jalapeno grown from a store bought pod. Its @ 95 cm/37 inches tall. You can see the pods starting to come out. Theres @ 7 so far:

Nambe Pueblo which has out- paced all the others. (I have a stick in the dirt to help keep it straight-up. Thats the brown part you see raising-up over the middle) Peppers are full-grown. Just waiting for them to ripen

Heres how the nambe looks now. Doesn't seem to want to let any other peppers set at the moment:

Next, the Fresno. this one was the first seedling to pop-up and out grew the others. however You can see how prominent the stem is but the leaf growth is somewhat stymied. I just finished potting-it-up so maybe it'll get bigger now:

Update: My unusual Fresno pepper plant. Doesn't seem to have any symmetry in it including the leaf structure:

update: Its been @ a week and no big diff but I thought I'd keep the grow- log going.

Fresno (unusual little plant. must have been a mutated seed because the plant is growing at an angle and some leaves are misshapen):

All the jalapenos seem to be producing pods now

This jalapeno stalk is the biggest of any plant I've ever grown :)

9/24 update:
first the Fresno. Looks like small buds coming out. Plant seems to be growing sideways so I propped it up w/ a stick:

Nambe Pueblo almost done ripening. Only two peppers on this plant but they're the biggest peppers I've ever grown. I was told they are mild in heat-range.:

Naga Dorset growing slowly but surely:

Jalapeno forest  There must be @ 25 on these two plants w/ more coming out every few days. Three started corking too :)

Last but not least, the Choc Bhut Jolokia. Pruned it because I have another one that I've left alone to grow unimpeded

They're inside now so I'm not on any schedule. Although its still @ 70-75 F degrees here, we're having too many storms for me to leave them out on the deck as I've done all season.
