event 2012 Northwest Chilefest- official thread

So many favorite moments! Sorry, HH - but that was one of the top runners! hahaha

But another one was when HH's bro-in-law discovered heat!
All of Friday night and Saturday Anthony was adamant about not trying any peppers or hot sauce.
When asked, or encouraged to, we were all met with an emphatic "NO!"

But, finally, sometime Saturday afternoon, I looked over and saw him sitting on a bench, by himself, with a brownie in his hand.
Now, SL had made 3 kinds of brownies. Pure Evil ones, ones with chile powder, and straight ones. So I just had to know.
I walked up and asked "Anthony, whatcha got there?"
With an twinkle in his eye, and an impish grin on his face, he answered "A Pure Evil brownie!" All on his own, the curiosity overtook him!!!!!!

So he ate it and waited. Some brownies take awhile to kick in. ;)
And then the heat hit! His eyes got wide and he started sucking air...I offered him a cup of cure (chocolate milk) and he eagerly nodded yes.

Next thing I saw - he was reaching for a piece of leftover Pure Evil popcorn!!!!!!!!! With the 4 drops on it!!!!!!
Well, this one required an audience, which he got!
It's curiously humorous how everyone drops to a crouching position when hit with too much heat!!!!

Late that night, while visiting around the fire, he told me, Mister "No-Heat-For-Me" - he told me that that afternoon he had had 4 PE brownies, and 2 popcorns (that 1st one with 4 drops, and a 2nd with 2 drops)!!!!!!!!

Now tell me heat isn't addicting!!!!!!!! :woohoo:

So many great moments and people. Pure Evil is so spot on with the name. I have to admit i was wrecked for several hours on sat due to the popcorn but no regrets. HH that pizza was so good. Ann thanks for all that you have done, you really made this weekend run smooth and the family and I had a great time. Cant wait till next year. I have some good footage of the popcorn event and will work on editing and post soon.

Hey - did anyone lose an Auto Emergency Tool?????
I just found one in one of our boxes!

I think one of my girls must have left it

I did a video of Anthony, but it's on one of the boys' phone. Will have to get it and post it fo'sho!

For next year, check out this place, Silver Ridge Ranch and Camping

It's about an hour out of Seattle, just over Snoqualmie Pass in the town of Easton. If it looks like a good option, I'll contact them as see what we can arrange. It also has a lodge for those whao want to stay but don't have camping gear. If you go to the camping page, there's a link ot a map of the site. The "c" in the box is for corral, not car (like I first thought ).

SL, that place looks nice to me. It also appears to be half way to all you guys, so less drive time for you all. Wondering though, is there an out doors area like we had at Kanaskit?

Looks like fun times were had by all!
HH I know how ya felt with that Fatalii in the eye...Same thing happened to me last night with one.
Those young'uns took that Pure Evil down like it wasn't no thang. Props to ya fellas!
Too bad ya'll on the other side of the map... Sounds like a great time!!!

Hold it Kanaskit, is that where you were? My scout troop used to go camping in that park. Damn, I know right where you were.

 Cool

Yep, Kanaskat-Palmer State Park, near Enumclaw! Beautiful spot on the Green River. We all charmed the ranger on Friday night, so we never got hassled, despite our rambunctiousness! hahaha

SL, I was going to wait awhile before posting this,
but we should get something happening sooner than later.
I think that Silver Ridge dustbowl would be a great last resort. LOL
We have some time to find somewhere better and I know that's doable.

Here's two privately owned spots within 5 hours of Port Orchard:

This one has a group peninsula with each campsite WATERFONT.
Each site is on grass and has it's own water.

This place is also on the water and it has 18 hole mini golf, water war games etc. etc.

My personal preference would be Banks Lake but... Whatever....
I'll keep looking over the next couple months.

Sunbanks resort would be great.Banks is a bigger lake than Park, and the spots are all close to the water. And it's a party type campsite, you don't worry about noise.
Both lakes have good fishing,too
