Well, it's just 2 weeks away! This is an amazing show, headed up by Steve Seabury of High River Sauces. We've done the show since its inception, and has quickly become our favorite event of the year. Over 40 of the best manufacturers will be in attendance. This show has grown in size like lightning, and is a TON of fun!
With eating contests going on all day both days, the highlight is the Screaming Mimi Awards, which will be handed out on the Saturday of the show. This Award has risen to the top of the food chain like lightning. Not only because the judges aren't anonymous, like most awards, but because there are only 13 categories total, not over 100, which makes it MUCH more difficult to win. Our Defense Condition #1 Wing Sauce took the Screaming Mimi last year, and we were beyond proud. With the well-known judges, like celebrities from Food Network, Food TV, Bon Appetit magazine, etc., well, I think you get the idea.

Now, on the Sunday of the show, yours truly turns 50 AND gives up smoking at midnight. To celebrate this, we have a large group heading to The Amber Steakhouse in Brooklyn (about 6-7 blocks from the show). We kinda maxed out the reservations for 20, but they may still have smaller tables of you'd like to join us for an awesome dinner of big slabs of meat. www.ambersteak.com
After dinner, we pile into the cargo van and head to another Brooklyn stop, this time at the Radegast Biergarten, an iconic German Biergarten, where the beers will flow like Niagra Falls. www.radegasthall.com
Now, depending how many people are still standing, we then head a few blocks away and hit up THE Thrash Metal Bar of Brooklyn,
Duffs Brooklyn on Marcy Avenue. My buddy from High School, Jimmy Duff, owns the place, and it's where we do our
annual Defcon Wingfest for the past 8 years. We'll close out the night there, and then go our respective ways. It proves to be a
night to remember. www.duffsbrooklyn.com.
Perhaps we'll see you there!
