Hi All

It's getting to that stage where we need to plan the next growdown.

I can supply the Aji Cito seeds, but will need to get them posted pretty quick so get voting

I also have no issue if we go with something else, but will need to order in good time as it takes ages to get to NZ

If you vote 'Something Else' post a suggested variety

Poll closes Friday 27th April

What's the best support for this type of chilli? I tend to just have a single bamboo stake that goes from the growing box to the ceiling of the greenhouse for the jalapenos. My growing boxes are about 64cm x 50cm with the soil about 20cm deep, so there's not a lot of soil to hold the poles up, but there's the greenhouse roof I can attach things to. I could probably do some kind of a frame with multiple stakes, but haven't needed to so far with the jalapenos.

You probably going to have to multi stake these Tim. They are more like a bush that a standard chilli plant, but I'll let you find that out.

I'll go buy a few more stakes and build a support, thanks. Not sure how much space I can give these in my little greenhouse (2.5 x 4m approx), might end up trimming them if they get too big.

Cito A and B have liftoff!
On the morning of day 4.

That's how they germinated so quick ... really it does work. Give it a go and by tomorrow you'll have some action.  :seeya:

It worked!

Wire frame tomato cages are so easy and inexpensive.

Had the first Cito in my small growbox for the last four days and see there’s some fuzz happening on the soil so into the big tent where we have some descent airflow.

I only planted 4 seeds so that I would have some as backup if anything went wrong.

All 4 have germinated but I have a serious case of helmet head.

I have been keeping them moist to try to soften the helmet a bit and this morning tried to remove it.

The one on the left came off ok, should be alright.

The one on the right ripped half the cotys off, so don't hold much hope for it.

The one nearest the camera is just poking a helmet up from the pellet.

The one at the back there is still hope for yet.

Not having much luck here, seven days in. I have them all in a plastic container in my shed, beside a window, on top of a heat mat. Lid is on at night, off during the day. Soil is about 18 degrees at the top. One looked like it was going to sprout but I think it died. If none come up I might have to give it a couple of months and try again.

Haven't had time with my other 110 plants going outside in ground and in containers as I'd like to give to these guys but here's where mine are. They've been under weak blurple led until they're ready for quantum board or outdoor high PAR lighting..

Some good looking seedlings there guys. Mine are doing their own weird thing and Im thinking some winter sunshine will give them a boost.

Can’t remember what leaves pointing up means, but last year I had it was when plants were too close to the light source. Dropped them down a bit and they were fine.

I wouldn’t have thought my led I’m using would do this tbh. Might just swap out 230W unit with 120W and see what happens.

Anyway here’s my update for this week.
