2018 Southern Hemisphere Grow Down-Under

Hi All

It's getting to that stage where we need to plan the next growdown.

I can supply the Aji Cito seeds, but will need to get them posted pretty quick so get voting

I also have no issue if we go with something else, but will need to order in good time as it takes ages to get to NZ

If you vote 'Something Else' post a suggested variety

Poll closes Friday 27th April

General Rules
  • GROWDOWN BEGINS 21st JUNE
  • Seeds to be started on or after start date
  • Germinate and grow as many as you want
  • All grow styles and techniques welcome
  • Only one plant can count towards your entry
  • Nominate your growdown plant at first weigh in
  • Weigh each harvest, and post picture of pods on scales here
  • Heaviest total weight of pods in one year from start will be the winner
  • Honour system - If you cheat the Aphid Gods will know

Those plants really loved the haircut!
Are you still all inside , what lights are you using?
Yeah they are still inside and will be for another month or so at least. still cold over night here with regular frosts.

i'm using 2 generic 600w Blurple LED.  today switched them too the  bloom setting. i figure a change might be good for them.

Still living indoors for the time being, temps have been perfectly fine outside, just the wind is way to strong. Put an old reaper plant I no longer cared about outside, wind completely destroyed it.

Ok. So I have moved some of mine outdoors.

They seemed to take a bit of a turn. The leaves started turning yellow and all the lower ones fell off.

Not sure what caused it but none of the other plants in the tent went like that. They seem to be bouncing back though.

The weather has been fantastic here, and I have started moving my plants outside. Will be very busy at work for the next 2 weeks, so will move them out when I can and I think within the next 3 weeks they will all be outside.

The rest of the Cito babies will be joining the herd then.

I guess the purpose of healthy composition like this is to push the limits of what we do and try new things while debunking a few myths.
These plants are now a week short of 3 months old and have not had an hour of darkness since germinating.
Just plain white CFL lights and some sunshine in last few weeks on warmer days.

Bottom watering with rain water and compost tea and fish ferts.
Still they thrive with light/sun 24/7 and no rest/dark time !?

+1 on #267!

Thank you guys . I do believe in lots of sun and light , but also good root development . The 50/50 Coco coir and compost , with only bottom watering , really helps those roots to spread.

But I think I am now sick of carrying those pots in and out , from now only outside in the sun, and dark nights.

Its that time of the week again. Update time.

things still moving on, i didn't think much had happened this week until i looked at the older photos. extra branches have now developed after heading them. i've even spotted one plant starting to flower. now the question is should i remove the flowers as i see them to keep the plant growing?

Those look really good , beautiful leaves .
I left all my flowers and lost about 3 out of the first 12 flowers, but the rest are forming pods . Each to his own , but I don't pick flowers.

Happy growing.

I put the last of my Cito babies outside today.

And I already had 5 outside.

They don't seem to be as big or as lush as other peoples, but I figure with 7 of them the chances of getting a couple of good ones is pretty good.

I intend on keeping 2 of them and putting one in a large pot and the other in the ground. The rest will be rehomed.

Weekly update. the plants are still living in the tent. growth seems too be going well.

i've thinned the plants down a little bit, they had a lot of branching going on after i topped them.

i have chosen some of the stronger branches and trained them too the outside to try and give them space and allow the light in.
