Once some of you guys asked in some topic where do I live. Well, I cant remember which thread it was so I'll just post it here.

PS : My house is not visible on this picture since we live outside the village, but its the best photo i could find.

Long time no see.. My plants are growing big, unfortunatly i have some problems with whiteflies and that green fluffy monsters. I hope that situaton will get better once they will go outside. We still have abnormally low temperatures here, and in saturday we expect snow...On the other hand, i allowed one of the tiger skin plants to flower, so far its producing some nice pods, but not that kind i expected from pictures..well...no more buying from ebay. If they will be nice, i wont even be mad and i'll have some isolated seeds for next year.

I love this! It looks incredibly peaceful and friendly. And for some reason, I'm betting your village makes really good cheese....? I love little communities like this. *Sigh*.....oh to travel the world

eBay strikes again. I first came in here to check out what you had going and, oddly enough, if you'd be up for a trade. (I like trading with other countries. ‍

Lol.) I have no idea what you have yet, but seeing "untrue" plants makes me less than happy for your situation. You spent this whole time nurturing that guy only to have an imposter. Lol. Let me know if I can get some seeds to you. I have a few isolated varieties that you can work with next year.

Sure i'm all in for trades. I'll let you know what is this plant. I only hope it is spicy, not some regular pepper. Not all imposteres are bad ones..Maybe i'll get a pleasent suprise

Sorry, but no. We do not make cheese here in this village specificly. We only have dairy and meat farmers. But if you look at wider region, we have the best cheese in slovenia.

Wow! That's very interesting! Paying your taxes in cheese, back hundreds of years ago.....just like salt. I like that all procedures need to take place in Zgornje Posočje (Upper Soča Valley). that's too cool! Thank you for that!

How about putting a thyme plant and some chives in your grow area - they repel aphids and other whiteflies.

visit our country..nice people,good food, beautiful country...

I can plant those plants...once they are outside..But we expect cold weather in days to come so i will be able to put them out after 20th of May.

Today i transplanted biggeset and strongest representatives of each strain into pots. I'll keep that ones for seeds for future generations and perhaps controled crosses. So far i have one strain isolated and first pod is almost ready to get picked up. Pictures are following up in days to come. I will have to keep them in my garage for atleast 14 days since we are expecting temperatures close to freezing (nature, have you gone completly mad?? tnx to us ofcourse).

But i do have one question for you...In your experience or anything does it matter if you take seeds from pods that were produced in early stages (that is in colder weather) or you need to wait for top of the season to get the best of genetics?

Greetings all, reporting again after a long time. I was busy at school and work and didn't have much time to post. After more than one month, summer finally came to slovenia. Temperatures now are perfect for peppers. On the negative side, it appears that ebay sellers sent me some pepper seeds without head. So far, Bhut jolokia red and tiger skin are just some regular peppers, not sure about butch T's yet tho.
On the other hand, other peppers are doing fine, some of them started to flower or already producing peppers. Unfortunatly im not at home enough to water them more often.

I've "liked" your post but I'm sorry that your ebay seeds haven't come true to type. Unfortunately it's often the way. This year I sowed white bubblegums. Only two germinated but I gave one seedling away, then found that the one I gave away looks true to type and the one I kept very obviously isn't. It's a real kick in the teeth when you have nurtured the plants from seed to fruit and then find they are not what you were expecting.

I'll took some pictures after i find time...we are preparing for a rock festival here and i just cant find the time for peppers between this, school and work...Although, i harvested one of ''tiger skins'', and this one was abit spicy..not much, but i think they will be gret for mild sauces or powder. IT looks like pods that are growing in hotter weather are also spicier. I need to check it out...

if you ever come to europe, you need to check it out.
Tourists most like next places : Soča valley (festivalley), lake bled, Ljubljana city and portorose.

Lessons learned : Dont buy seeds off Ebay or similar sites..

A few pictures..ebay strikes again, this is clearly not scorpion, since pods are growing upwards, bhut looks like cayene, the rest is more or less what is suppost to be.

no fucking way i'm using ebay or something similar to buy seeds again. Nevertheless, you can be suprised from time to time what you actually get. It is dissapointing not to get what you wanted,but on the other side it's nice to watch what did you get. Like kinder surprise

For next year i'm planning to buy seeds from ukchilliseeds. 2€ - 4€ for a pack of 10 seeds its not bad at all..Here in slovenia we have one company, which is producing hot sauces and is also selling seeds for 5€ and up...

But does anyone know, why they like pots way more than garden? they are atleast twice the size in pots compared to garden???

No expert here, Petrac, but in my experience, once
the roots touch the sides of the pot, the top growth
really accelerates. Less energy going to root production,
so more for the greenery.

This have some logic in it, but if i compare this with other plants, they normaly grow better in gardens than pots since they have more soil available...

I think it has more to do with warmth of the soil, not too much water if you have roof over them (the gardens are really watered these days) and if you water them just right, also not too dry. Also, If you used some prepared soil bags from the store, they are filled with nutrients and also have the right PH, which for the garden you're not sure if you're not measuring it. PH of the soil is the most important thing and really dictates how the plant will feed with all the minerals from the soil.

That's what I learned, but the sad thing this season is, my plants in the pots are looking poor and I'm sure I fu@@ed something up with the soil. :banghead:
