2019 the year of the Scotch Bonnet

I have more than enough SB seeds now, way more than I have room to grow for, so I decided to create a poll to let you people help me in selecting the most interesting varieties! :)
 
I'm not going to start my grow just yet, that will have to wait for somewhere in February. That is, if I can wait that long! :D
 
I want to limit my grow to 10 varieties. I can stretch this to 12 if absolutely neccessary but I prefer not to.

Considering the popularity of the Papa Dreadie I wonder if I should keep all 4 of my Papa Dreadie seedlings instead of just one.  :think:  That would imply giving up on some of the other varieties though...  :rolleyes:

Seems to be popular Ive noticed hence why Im growing it myself this grow year. Are they really that good? What varieties would you have to give up if you keep the PD?
 
Don't know how good they are. I have zero experience with any scotch bonnet...
Chosing which to give up is another dilemma of course. That would likely be the cappuccino and chocolate varieties and maybe the sb7j...

And then I may receive another couple of "must try" varieties that I will need room for... :rolleyes:
 
It's probably best to continue as originally planned and from there make a selection for the 2020 season :lol:
 
Got a few extra varieties going today, the Walton Farm Scotch Bonnet and the Falmouth Scotch bonnet. I'm not sure how I'm going to manage my grow space in the near future. In the past years I had all the inside grow space for myself but my daughter is now also growing some plants that take up part of the space so I have to do with quite a bit less while I have more chili plants going than ever before... (that's still only 14 plants :) )
 
Nah... 21 is too many! :D
 
The reason I want to keep the number down is because, when the plants are outside, I put them on a table to keep them out of reach of slugs. The table can only take so many plants. Especially larger plants are a limiting factor. I don't know what size to expect from the bonnet plants...
 
I could get a second table of course! ;)
 
I still have a couple of red/blue led panels which I bought a couple of months ago. I never used them because I hate the light they emit. I prefer to keep using my pinkish T8 grolux tubes :)

Get some copper tape or copper building flashing to put around your containers. I believe I read somewhere that the slugs will not cross it.

we say that slugs receive a small electric shock when touching a copper barrier.
Whether that or some other factor, no one knows exactly,
but the result is that slugs will usually avoid crossing the barrier.
