4 clutches in five years

On my way to a homebrew club meeting tonight and the clutch goes out on my truck for the fourth time in five years. Am I really that hard on it?

$200 for a tow, another $200 for a clutch kit and I get to be a mechanic this week end

Poking a little fun here. Maybe you need a different vehicle .
I asked a friend how he liked his Toyota 4x4? Without a pause he said, “Well I reckon if it’s good nough for the ‘Tally-ban’, it’s good nough for me.” You see those things everywhere and carrying all kinds of stuff.

Yeah, I think you are definitely hard on them. My little car I've had since July 2001 still has its original clutch going strong.

Sorry LanMan. It could be that it hasn't been adjusted correctly. Not to dis on your workmanship, but it would be wise to do the work yourself, and then pay a Transmission tech to adjust it right away and every 10,000 miles or so. It seems like no matter how hard you are on the clutch, you shouldn't be going thru them that fast. just my 2¢...

Good luck man!

They still make clutches? Who knew. I haven't seen one of them in years.

lol. ALL vehicles have clutches.

You know what I meant Scovie, that thing that disengages the engine from the wheels when you push the odd ball pedal with your left foot. Far far different than the clutch plates in an auto tranny.
