thanks 915...

I was hoping to cut the same one back and make it a 3rd year plant so I can tell the difference in production years for myself...of course the others I cut back will be 2nd year next year

AJ your habanero is awesome. We're looking at overwintering as many peppers as possible but have zero experience so any help will be much appreciated. I see from looking at your habanero that the second year really produces.

Hi Pita....first off, welcome to the boards...

the Orange Hab is a second year plant....it only produced about 15 pods last year and I pulled it up, trimmed the top back to nothing but stubbs and grew it through the winter in a grow box kept at 86F constant...I harvested a little over 200 pods about 6 weeks ago and harvested 153 pods yesterday. It looks like I will still be able to harvest anothe 150-200 pods off this plant before cold weather sets in...it is still setting new fruit..

Picture of plant before picking on a different thread...
Here is a pic of the harvest....

Thanks for the welcome, and also the advice.

I went out and bought myself a cfl and bowl style reflector for the two habs in my hydro setup (it's ebb and flow, btw). It's the kind that is more in the orange/red spectrum so hopefully I get some flowering.

Now if only I can get them nice and bushy. My original one that is now in a large pot is bushing up like crazy! It's just starting to flower too; I'm excited!

Can't wait until I have this expression every day ---> :onfire:

I am sure you have been told about aphids...that is what I would try and stay on top of...if you get an infestation, they are really really hard to get rid of...
