A '59 Les Paul burst is more desired by professional musicians more than any strat, tele, or ANY Fender instrument ever made.
Myself, I prefer a '54 Les Paul with p90's.

Strats have been the tool used by a large number of the Greats. So have Les Pauls etc, especially `59 bursts (and `58 and `60). In many ways, playing a Strat on tour is easier, as they are extremely hard to break. The headstock on Gibsons, on the other hand, are very easy to break.
People tend to prefer one or the other and the guitars certainly play very differently. Personally, I find Strats and Teles easier to play, so I play my Les Paul more. If I can play it on a Les Paul, I can play it on anything.
I tend to prefer the sound of single-coil pickups and the best guitar I`ve ever played/heard was a `55 Les Paul Goldtop with P90s. I`ve been lucky enough to play a few "holy grail" guitars, but that `55 was astonishing. The next would be a `54 Strat, which sounded truly wonderful.

we have a gibson and a strat... the strat sounds better than the gibson
Gibson vs Fender = Ford vs Chevy. Pretty funny to say there is one more highly desired than the other. I would however like to point out that the highest prices at auction ever have been for Strats. Clapton's strat was almost a million bucks.
For me personally, Fender didn't put on enough frets, and on a Gibson you can't reach them all anyway.

Naga, that's where a Carvin shines.
Strat greats include:
Hendrix, Beck, Clapton, SRV, Guy, Shepherd, Johnson, Hoey, Castro, etc, etc. It's the tone.

I hear you though. I do like Carvins. Never owned one, although I've owned about every guitar under the sun at one time or another.

I have a DC127 and its incredible. I have never seen an action so low. 
PRS are beautiful and beautifully made, but I`ve never been impressed with their pickups at all. Never owned an Ibanez, although I have played a few. I don`t like the necks much, but that`s just my preference.Naga Chomper said:Or an Ibanez... Or PRS...
Carvin do make nice guitars. The Factory is about 12 miles from me and worth a quick visit!
