Adventures in Knob Creek Bourbon and Cheap Company Decisions

So this evening I thought I would have a nice bourbon over my prerequisite two ice cubes. Looks like I was out of Knob Creek - but wait, there's a brand new unopened one at the bar. I pick it up, walk to the kitchen and peel the wax coating off the top of the bottle. Revealed is the bottle top so I squeeze, twist and pull.

No "pop".

I keep turning it counter-clockwise and it begins to turn more freely.

It must be a bad cork. Must be.

One more turn and the lid unscrews.

Knob Creek replaced the cork with a plastic twist top. What the hell (?)

It must be near the end of days
(j/k)

The execs over at Knob Creek should be tarred and feathered!

:banghead:

Tricky bizness, those corks!

A few years back, Pendleton replaced their normal corks with a different kind of cork, probably a less expensive kind.
Anyway, the new cork reacted poorly with the whiskey and changed its flavor! And not for the better! Pandemonium ensued.
At least in our house!
The company fixed the problem. Life got good again.

So I guess the moral is: a screw top is better than a bad cork! As long as you can still enjoy your libation....well, enjoy it well!!!! :D

Cork is expensive.

Heaps of wineries have abandoned cork and are using those plastic butt plug chingaderra's.

And box wine is more popular than ever.

Won't be long before you start seeing 5L box whiskey.

I'm hoping for 5L box tequila!

We should all throw down and order one of those 42-gallon (or whatever they are) barrels direct from Jack Daniels. That has a big cork and you get to taste the barrels to see which one you like. Then, they bottle it up into how ever many dozen 750 ml's that is. Split 10 ways, it would be economical and AWESOME!!!!

Who's with me?

Companies do this instead of raising prices. Like how the patties at McDonalds shrank over the years but the price stayed about the same. They don't want to shock people with a price raise. Though they should.

If Jack Daniels made tequila - I'd be all in!!!!!

I just haven't acquired a taste for the mash whiskey yet.
I blame Canada! hahahaha

But that would be the most awesome road trip EVER!!!!!!!!! :D

Now you know where all the cork went.

And you thought that was meat on your Quarter Pounder with scheeze.
