Aerogarden users I need adviice/suggestions.

I made a small frame so I can easily fit my aero cloner and the aerogarden. The pipe was a 10ft at $2 at Lowes I think, the fittings tho... I payed a bit more so total was about $8-$12. I can't remember. I already have my LEDs so that definitely kept me from buying the lights and the extension. For $12 you can't beat it. What an aerogarden needs is something with good penetration IMO.

EDIT: It was 2 10ft 1/2" PVC, the strurdy one that holds like 2xx psi. I didn't use any glue as it holds pretty good so later I can extend or make it higher. Better yet, hook up a power strip or a 4' T8 or T5 and you're golden.

Once mine outgrew the height of the hood I just transplanted into one gal pots using MG moisture control. I really need to up-pot now they are way top heavy and prob rootbound by now. What sucks is that my porch is so hot and mosquito filled, makes it very hard to work out there.

I guess I could transplant I just thought why not leave it since nothing else was in there. I figure if I move it outside it would lose all of it's leaves. Guess I could try to harden it off then move it.....

it WILL be double duty.. hardening from water to soil and from indoors to out... i took the container of the aerogarden and put it on in morning sun for a week.. then.. transplant into soil
fast fwd to min 6

ebay or from aerogarden.
Lots of alternatives---like sponges or nylons cut and shaped and filled with peat or the like.
But why mess with something that works so well.
Set of lights will run 30 to 60, depending on model, 16 for 50 baskets, 15 for 50 sponges. (From the Aerogarden store)
Only thing I do different is use General Hydro nutes.
35 for a couple years worth.
Search General Hydroponics Flora Series QT - FloraGro, FloraBloom, and FloraMicro at Amazon.com.
id use advance nutrients ph perfect or jungle juice, jungle juice is an exact copy of flora series except its tightly monitored meaning its the exact same every batch where as general hydroponics doesnt do that, jungle juice is also a little cheaper than it, if you go to ph perfect advanced nutrients its about the same price as flora but its a higher quality. did a lot of research and testing, just suggestion though

This here is something I wanted to know. I was about to buy GH nutes a couple of days ago, but I didn't since I already had the aerogarden 8ml pouches. It's always good to know there's something better and more stable than GH nutes. I'm going to the hydro store on Tuesday, I gotta check out the net pots to see which would be more suitable to grow a couple of plants indoors during winter.

Thanks to all for your great help. If there's anymore suggestions post em up.

One last question :D . Ok now that I have a sprout when should I use the aerogarden nutes? If they're ok to use that is. Thanks.

Mine did good outside till the damn whiteflies got to them and I got all that white powdery stuff with black spots underneath the leaves. I have to wash off the back of the leaves every week to get the stuff off and if any black spots are left they start making the white powdery stuff again. First thought was mealybugs (my local extension office said) but another thread said whiteflies. Makes sense since it shows up after whiteflies have been all over it. I'm getting really tired of them... my insecticidal soap doesn't seem to work on them.

Here's what I'm working with. I really don't have anything else to put in there and I was really hoping to grow one all the way through from seed to pod in an aerogarden. Is it possible or is the aero just not efficient enough?

1/4 strength to sprout, full on mix after first true leaves.----or second----or third.

Really depends on who you ask.

I start with 1/4, and mix a gallon full strength, adding that as it needs to be filled.

I'm just using the AG nutes that came with it. It recommends feeding the 8 ml packet every other feeding/watering which I just go by the lights that tell me so. It seems to enjoy it.

Yes, you can do it a full season, BUT-----The roots will clog the pump, they will be smaller than other hydro systems or in pots, and you will be watering every day.
Smaller plants= smaller and less pods.

Though I did it with large peppers, I would guess it works better with compact, bushy, berry type peppers.
I did it with all spots filled, and ended up with 3 that would fit, and built a ghetto hydro to put those in when it became too crowded.

Those 3 crowded out the other 4 that were slower to mature, and they never got far.

the thing is gh nut and advance nut jungle and ph perfect are both like cheap, if you want you can spend the money and get the crazy good stuff but you have to add like 20 different nutrients and it changes sometimes you add 10, sometimes 12 ect ect and it cost a lot, looking at around $500 for the complete collection, but you dont need that stuff for a hobby and what not go with jungle juice its just as good as gh except its same formula everytime, gh is not sometimes you could get amazing sometimes shit lol.. if you can get ph perfect for same price or little more, take the ph perfect its better overall.. otherwise dont worry about nut for aerogarden its a fun hobby you dont need anything crazy at all

i use ph perfect in mine, ill show you my peter pepper i have in it right now, its about a month and a half old.. ill post a pic later today, gave it a prune other day just to get light in the middle, its about 16" tall now

my peter pepper in aerogarden, time stamp is a little off thats since i planted the seed but it took about a week to germinate
