I think I saw on the "I admit it" topic that TB's thang is more 50 shades of gray, a nice Chablis, a hot bath with rose petals and some potpourri simmering on a scented candle.

We have been in the 70's for a couple days now.  It's like yo, yo weather here.  One day is 45, next it's 57, next it's 65.  Tomorrow it's suppose to be 64, and Sunday 46 degrees.
 
Wa. You ain't seen nuthin' until you've seen Lake Effect snow.
 
But yeah, icy rain/sleet is worse in many ways - very slippery - especially when people try to drive in it. Stay inside and stay safe!

i was just going to say i wasnt dicounting your exsperiance TB but you dont wanna live up here where we are, we call what you got a "DUSTING" just so you know im with ya man i hate snow in any quantity, i hate winter in any capacity

You're right about that, I like living on the west side of THE river.  ;)
 
We had 26" of snow,then 3 days in the 60's and it melted,now 1/2" of ice and starting to snow on top of that. What's next,locusts??

Always cool when you see a lightning snow storm. Anyone get those?

I spent almost 30 years in Alaska.
 
I often miss Alaska but not the cold.
 
When slipping and falling on the ice I don't bounce back up like I used to when I was younger.

I'll agree with slipping/falling on ice with age..it sucks!
 
I never said I like the cold ! though its a toss up whats worse - extreme cold, a lot of snow, or extreme heat ?
I pretty much just deal with it and dress for it, then its not much of big deal.
goretex my best friend in extreme cold & wind! less bulk & less bulky layers needed to stay warm & dry.

In Alaska we called it something else.
 
Gore-Leak.
 
Still a damn good product, especially for waders and rain gear if you keep the pores clean.
 
Took me forever to get used to the heat (anything over 60f) in the lower 48.
 
Now I've become a big pussy.
 
Gets down below 78f and I gotta' put on a sweater.
 
TB - everything leaks over time or depending on the use, I'm more so talking about military goretex jacket & pants which I use as a second layer from outside layer (job I cant wear it as outside layer), while the outside layer takes the abuse the goretex blocks the wind & keeps me dry with minimal bulky layers. blocking the wind is the biggest thing for staying warm (at least where I'm at) that wind will go right through other clothes.
though just like you mention goretex will leak over time from the kind of use/abuse....but that's only a given.
either way you cant beat brand new mil goretex set for under $100 ! (more like $80) and yes true new unissued mil goretex.
 
everytime someone says their boots or ? are waterproof, I reply back with " they were when you bought them !" cuz nothing stays waterproof forever.

It hasn't been 78 INSIDE our house since September!

I would take the cold over the heat tho. When it hits 110+ in the summer, I am one hurtin puppy.
