The 2 tallest plants were grown by stc3248 and Wayright, with the Crown going to Wayright!
A really lovely C.frutescens variety from Peru. It also goes by the accession number CGN 22792.
Really beautiful plants that can get very, very large indeed. Well worth growing out if you have the space!
In many ways this is a typical Capsicum frutescens, but it is a really excellent example of that species. The pods might be small, but they pack quite a wallop in terms of heat and flavour.
The initial aromas are very fresh, with some sweetness and a lot of fruity notes. The fruity notes are somewhat non-specific, but very individual to C.frutescens.
The pods have a very clear textural difference common to C.frutescens only. The skins are quite tough, but the flesh is extremely soft and very juicy. The flavour has a wonderful fruitiness, but the heat is very aggressive and prickly in a black pepper type of way. There was also a very fresh tasting, grassy green flavour right at the end. I love C.frutescens like this.
They are small, but they are brilliant!!!
