AJs April 2011 Backyard Pepper Porn

haven't posted pictures of all the plants in a while so I figured it was time...

will be a bunch of pictures...

will start with what is in the hoop house...got both ends off of it now...it has withstood up to 70mph winds this season so far and done a great job of just surviving...

Overwintered Trinidad Scorpions - they have been shocked several times already and still I have not transplanted them to the 10 gallon containers I bought for them...

Ristra Cayenne...am also growing NuMex Las Cruces and Carolina Cayenne..

I have space for 26 plants on my retaining wall by the pool and this year I am going to have the alphabet spelled with a pepper of each letter of the alphabet...just something to do....so I am calling these alphabet 1

Orange 7 and a bunch of different varieties including Jonah, Douglah, Morouga, Yellow 7, geez..don't remember what all is in this tray...

another tray with a bunch of different chinense...datil and cachucha in front..

now to go to the area next the green house that I use for hardening off plants...once they get to this stage, they are ready for selling or planting...and I am way behind on planting out...

Black Congo - few for sale, most for me and my bestest buddy Randy - we call him farmer...

Trinidad Congo - lot for sale and some to grow - these are the meatiest red chinense pods I have grown to date...

7 Pot...the Brain Strains in the back are going crazy...growing like mad...

Trinidad Scorpion ButchT up front, my HGs from the past 3 seasons in the middle and back...and the ones in the back are getting huge fast..

might as well show some pics of my cement farm...on the way to the cement farm is my favoritest ornamental plant of all time...the honorable Texas Star Hibiscus...

first two plants are cucumbers second two are yellow crook neck squash...bought and planted yesterday morning...

then the first two plants are Husky Cherry tomatos, next two are Beefmaster tomatos...

24 celebrity tomato plants...these are to be sold to whoever wants them...I know a lot of restaurants that want fresh homegrown tomatos...bought these at Home Depot and planted day before yesterday...

headed to the growrage for a couple more shots of plants still to be transplanted...

Peruvian White Hab, Wild Waco Tepins, and Super Chili (a mass producing plant...

Poblano - hatch (seed from central market that were ripening - we will see how much of a hybrid they are) - Miriachi and two sweet Rocotos that probably won't make doodly squat here in this north Texas heat...

I think thats it...

I am pleasantly pleased with the way the season is progressing so far...

don't know where I came up with the alphabet idea but when I counted the number of plants I could put on the retaining wall with the drip fertigation setup I have for it..it came to 26 and that may be a clue...

I will say again....I learned most of what I know about growing peppers here on this website...and a lot of reading on the subject...

lord have mercy SD...please don't wish that on me...not interested in getting that big...got another project going on where I can sell a bunch of fresh pods at one fell swoop and won't have to worry about what to do with the pods once they ripen...plus I am going to sell "variety packs" of pods this year...probably 10 different varieties in clam shell containers...we will see what the Central Market thing does this year since I got insurance...

I hope all the growers on this site have wonderful seasons...just remember...the plants will tell you what they want...AND...the biggest thing of all is "peppers don't like wet feet"....

Two things, AJ:

1. How the devil do you keep that beautiful hound out of your beautiful plants? I can't grow diddly in my backyard thanks to my mutts.

2. Have faith in those Manzanos, buddy. They are worth it! If you've got a greenhouse, all you gotta do is get 'em fruited up and move 'em inside. I had to do the brown paper sack method to ripen mine up after the first hard freeze, but boy were they good!

they are great stuffing peppers for me patrick...I lovem' stuffed with some foodarama scotch bonnet puree in the filling...talk about mouth watering...and thank you man...

thank you ma'am...the wife might beg to differ with the green hands...she would say dirty hands... the concrete farm is just cinderblocks...if I am not mistaken this will be its 4th year or maybe just its 3rd...no maintenance...period...as far as the doggie...that's my best friend Roscoe and he is my shadow....laying at my feet right now in my comuter room...

Thanks ZS...had an issue with fungus/bacteria/something during the cold weather when I had the plants in the hoophouse and had to heat it...shut up overnight with no ventilation made it supersaturated in there and created a perfect reproduction zone for the baddies...used some copper soap spray and it dealt with whatever it was....and you are right about getting them planted out and under fertigation...sure will save me some time since I am so busy....roflmao...

he never has bothered my plants...but then again when he was a puppy a long time ago...he is almost 12 now...he grabbed half an orange habanero I had in a sandwich baggie on the counter...I found it on the runner in the kitchen just lying there still in the baggey with 4 punctures in the bag...one in the pod itself and he hasn't bothered any since...and believe it or not, he doesn't even pee on the plants...he squats around my plants to pee...he is one hellofa good dog...
